Grocery shopping

Today I went to the supermarket with my sister and my adorable4 yr old nephew, who kept insisting he get everything he could possibly think of. My poor ears and my poor sister, no matter how much she told him no he kept finding ways to, "push her buttons".

Well I finally had enough, held him firmly and walked him down the isle informing him in the process that I was quite disappointed in his behavior, we went over the discussion we had in the car before entering the store and again reassured him if he continued with this type of behavior that he would have to deal with me.

The things is with kids you have to" say what you mean and mean what you say". now from experience my sweet sweet nephew knows that I don't tolerate rude bahavior and quickly settled. As I've been told before mummy or aunty your not cool, I usually laugh and say thank you for it remarks such as this which tells you that you are doing a great job. I will share with you a situation which left a lasting impression on me.

One morning while preparing breakfast my second son approached the table and boldly said, The first sandwich is the largest and it belonged to him..He kept insisting and I said nothing, however seeing how determined he was I asked him to offer the same sandwich to his youngest brother and the first glass of juice to his eldest brother by snack time I repeated myself. By the time lunch rolled around my second son began to cry as he asked," What have I done to deserve this?"

funny how his brothers realizing what was happening to their brother replied, "your selfish that's why mum is doing this.

Well what can I say from that day I had absolutely no problem with him are his brothers sharing with each other again.

Parenting is hard work but the moment your child are children realize that getting away is not an option, you would have conquered half the battle.
