WA Email notifications stopped for unknown reason

About a week and a half ago I stopped receiving WA e-mail notifications. This was strange as I didn’t initiate a stop action. I then checked my settings on my profile page to see if the option to receive notifications was still checked and it was. I then unchecked it, rechecked it, logged out of WA and logged back in. Checked my e-mail and still no notifications.

NEXT STEP:

Typed in question pertaining to this issue in the WA search box. Noticed that this has happened to several members in the past. Some members stated that the problem resolved on its own. I came across a couple of posts suggesting that you update your white list to include WA. I did this and the problem didn’t resolve. I also came across a post from Kyle pertaining to issues with Hotmail/MSM/Outlook. Here is the post if you want to check it out. My mail provider is Yahoo Mail so it really didn’t pertain to my particular situation. He did suggest to switch to Gmail as a mail provider as there had been no known issues with them.

SWITCHED MAIL PROVIDER:

I took Kyle’s suggestion to switch e-mail provider and created a new Gmail account for my WA login. Changed my e-mail address and password credentials on the WA Platform. I then checked my new email account and found that my notifications started to trickle in.

NEW PROBLEM

The switch was successful but another problem occurred. I went to log in to the WA Platform and was unable to do so with my new e-mail and password. I tried several times but all attempts failed.

WHAT TO DO NEXT

Contacted Site Support and explained my situation. They suggested that I select “forgot my password” on the log in page and reset my password with the new one that I created. Success, it worked!!! I now am receiving my notifications once again and also can log back in to WA.

Just posted this information for anyone who may have a similar situation in the future.

Hey Jerome, great to see that you troubleshooted this issue and have let others know about it. Sometimes for unknown reasons email providers make changes and email is nowhere to be found. I've had it happen to me over the years many times and it's totally unknown.

One thing to note is that email forwards are constantly being challenged by email providers and delivery rates for forward can vary. The underlying technology (world wide) used for forwards have over the years been abused by spammers and this can cause some email platforms like GMAIL or YAHOO to have intermittent delivery. That said - we do everything we can on our end to authenticate and verify the email servers used to forward email from WA hosted domains.

Anyone that is using a forward as their WA email address would have better delivery of their notifications if they used a gmail account - that's the most direct and reliable way to get email.

Hi Lynn,
Thanks for stopping by. It might be useful should you encounter a similar situation in the future.

Same thing happened to me, Jerome. I had to switch to another provider and now everything works just fine. Glad you were able to get everything sorted out too.

All the best,
Sue

Hey Sue,
Thanks for stopping in. I see we both encountered the same problem and did the same thing to solve it. I guess it’s as Carson mentioned in his post above. Providers are being more cautious nowadays with all the spamming going on which I guess is a good thing.

Thank you Jerome for sharing this issue. I actually experienced this issue myself last summer several times. I didn‘t change the mail provider. At the end of August it fortunately stopped occuring. Don‘t know why, just glad it works.

So good that you are fully connected to WA again.

It took a little while to figure it out but glad that it works now. I actually glad that I did this as now I only receive WA notifications on this new email account.

Your persistence pays off!
It‘s a great idea to have separate accounts for private and business mails.

Have a good time Jerome,
