Hello Everyone

I really want to Share this Awesome post I found here at WA ;))

Hope we're all having a great, well deserved weekend. I had no intention of posting today, however while having my morning caff, I found this awesome post I just had to share with you guys.

I won't make this too long, though I do want to elaborate a little. This post hit home, partly because since losing my lower right arm a few years ago, I've discovered just how it feels to struggle with certain things.

Now I'm pretty stoic, and blessed with an attitude of "don't whine, count your Blessings and get on with creating your Life", it's just my nature. However fact remains, some things can be a major pain where the sun don't shine, if you get my drift.

Making your site user friendly for your physically challenged visitors

So anyway, and yes, seems I'm making my "short" post a little longer. I was having my morning caff, when I stumbled on Stephanie's Blog, it's definitely a winner, and it will undoubtedly enrich your website. I sure know I'll implement this in mine. Thanks Steph, much appreciated...

So here's the link, I know you'll enjoy;

Steph's blog is very good, except I've found that when I put text into the 'Alt Text' part, the picture won't submit.
Has anyone else found this?
One other question.
Another member mentioned something about 'Alt Description'. Is this the same as 'Alt Text'?

Hi Guys
I haven't implemented or tried this on my website as et. However I will be getting into it over the next coming days.
I'll make sure to make notes as I go, then post it as a tutorial for everyone.

I read this blog, it's something people can overlook. A number of years ago I worked in the support department of a college. The role included enabling students to pursue their studies with assistive technology. There were some amazing tools available, even for the profoundly disabled, very satisfying work. :)

Wow Kathy
I'm sure your knowledge can be greatly useful for many here, and I for one would Love to hear more.
Thank you for sharing this, much appreciated
Have a wonderful weekend

Some of the tools I saw were pretty cool. We worked with a company who designed these products. We'd explain what was limiting the client and they'd come with some tools for the client to try. One client who's hand was contracted received a specially designed mouse. It had a ball on top that fitted into the palm of her hand, with the buttons strategically placed so her fingers could reach to "click".

I'm going back about11/12 yrs, I daresay the tools will be even better now. :)

I Love the diversity of people here, such awesome backrounds.
Thanks so much for sharing this, it allows me a deeper insight in who and what my Friend "Kathy" is, as well as sharing in your accomplishments.
What a great feeling
Thank You

Hey Joseph,
I already saw Steph's blog, and found it very insightful.
I am partially blind myself, so it made me THINK.
Thanks for the reminder, and have a great weekend.

Hi Joseph, had a look at stephill's blog, very interesting. Left her a reply which you can read below if you so wish.

Hi Steph, may I add another point to an already very interesting post: The use of fonts and font size. When choosing a font and font size, unless you have a screen enlargement app as mentioned, people with poor vision should be considered. I have seen many sites with the main body text as low as 9pt and line spaced to close together and if you're using a font such as Times Roman, which has a small x-height, it makes it hard for even a person with normal vision to read, never mind people with impaired vision. Why do you think libraries have large print books or you can order them from booksellers?
I generally use a sans serif face such as Arial for the main body text and a font size of 13pt with a line height of 18pt, this, I feel, helps people with impaired vision as well as people with normal vision. If you wish you can see how it looks by visiting my site: www.safweightloss4all.com.
Once again, thanks for a very informative post, bookmarked.

Great stuff Harry, you just got to Love all there is to learn here.
Thanks for taking the time my friend
Hope you're enjoying the weekend

Yeah it was a good blog and I am now following Steph. I broke my wrist a couple of years ago so although temporary, I know what only having one usable arm is like! Just immersing myself in the Scarlet Pimpernel. An old story but I had partially forgotten how exciting and well written it was!

Ya, she does put oyt great stuff, and I'm glad you two are friends on here, I think you'll get along great1
How's your weekend so far, working on your home?
Blessings to you and yours
