I don't like Lemonade, So I'm going to Make Lemon Pie

You know the saying, when you get lemons, make lemonade. Well, I don't like lemonade and I don't like that saying! LOL Why does the lemon get such a bad rap? Come-on now. I know it's sour, but really, who hasn't had a good slice of lemon pie? Why are bad preforming cars called lemons? Even states have a law called the "Lemon Law."

I love lemons! I love lemon candy, lemon pie, lemon cake, and even just the taste of lemons. I haven't eaten a lemon in years because I hear they are very bad for the enamel on your teeth, but hey, so are soft drinks, and I don't see people calling negative things soft drinks. That car is a coke. Nope, I don't hear that.

Okay, so what is this really all about? Well, just because some people think of the lemon as being something bad, not all look at it that way. And just because one person sees one way of doing something as bad, doesn't necessarily mean it's bad for everyone.

I really think in Internet Marketing you need to evaluate your audience and decide what is beneficial to you when it comes to your audience. Not everyone is going to "love" you. On the other hand, no everyone is going to "hate" you either! YAY! That means we all have a chance.

The one thing to remember, don't let other Internet Marketers lead you to do something that will not benefit your audience, clients, or customers, or not to do something that your audience, clients, or customers are loving.

I did this recently and guess what, I was wrong. I know what they loved about me and because someone criticized me I changed the way I was dealing with those that follow and associate with me. Notice I said criticized. They really did not offer any help, they just basically told me how what I was doing was all wrong.

I received more than one email asking me what was wrong and did I have someone else doing some of my work. LOL -- No, I didn't, but I had let someone that I thought to be smarter and more experienced influence the way I was doing things.

If you are getting good results, then don't make things worse by taking advice from someone that is not you or has your personality. If you know in your heart and soul that what you are doing in the best interest of those your service or relate to, then you need to keep doing what you are doing.

Now we can all improve on something and I'm not saying not to listen to others. The thing to remember is that you are accountable to yourself and those you are responsible to, and sometimes, though someone might be trying to help you, they can harm you more than they help.

So if you don't like lemonade, then make some lemon pie and enjoy it! If you like lemonade, then by all means, drink away!

Have a GREAT day!

Lemons will be lemons... :)

Oranges will be Oranges, it's all about your interpretation! Did I just say that! Well it's late here. lol!
Bernie

LOL

And how do you feel about oranges, Shawn? Bernie, you are correct, Oranges will be Oranges, and grapes will be grapes. I love them all! LOL -- Okay, I meant to say how do you feel about lemons, Shawn?

I actually like lemons, they get a bad rap all the time, but I also do not like lemonade :)

I think we pay to much attention to negative criticism and ignore the positive criticism. For example, I asked a few WA members to look at my site to get their thoughts, I had a lot of positive feed back and good advice as to how it could be improved (great stuff, exactly what I had asked for) only one comment stung, they did not like the background colour of my page, I was devastated and immediately set about changing the colour, I could not find a colour I liked!! So I went back to the original colour, I spent more time on that comment than I did on all the other feed back. Kind of proves a point!

Yes, we tend to spend more time on the negative. What we need is feedback not criticism. In my humble opinion there is NO constructive criticism. The person that came up with that saying was dead wrong. Criticism is negative and cannot be considered constructive. A lot of us have bought into that saying and it is dead wrong. You give feedback in a sweet, positive manner and no nit-picking. The thing is I didn't even ask for feedback or help! I have learned our personalities come out in the things we write and the way we present our material. Just because some don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong or bad.

You find someone you trust to kick ideas back and forth and someone that will tell you stuff like, you have bad grammar in many places or you are misspelling words -- that is the kind of feedback I like -- not the colors or themes, etc. If this person were to tell me that they think it is hard to navigate my website I would ask others -- some people have a hard time going to a new site and figuring out how to get around. Others have no problem.

Well, you get the idea. Thanks for you very insightful comment! You are so right because we do tend to spend more time on the negative than the positive! Have a GREAT day!

You are so right but I think positive advice and guidance from those who have a track record in success is very well worth heeding! To your success!
Bernie
