We were physically active when we were kids. We ran around the house, outside to play and spent long hours in the parks. This might not be so for this generation who spend a lot of time on their gadgets.

Some adults invest in their health by working out in the gym, 5k races, walking, dancing in a regular schedule and , if you watch those runners, they are intent on what they are doing. If you ask them why they workout, they will say they do it because they must. Their dedication shows in their bodies and in their vitality even when not exercising. Long term good health is likely for all these.

For people who lead a sedentary life, they will tell you they don’t like the gym, they can’t bother with regular exercise, they need company, they don’t have the money. In fact, their only exercise is jogging their memory.

There must be some movement that you like and are willing to do regularly. Dance with a group, walk or run with some friends, Based on the statistics related to lifestyle diseases, you just have to decide on an exercise habit. Decide to like at least one exercise habit . Park far and walk. Take the stairs. Walk around the block.

When you don’t move, you pay a hefty price.

What do you do to keep moving ? Is it enough?

You are so right!

I have been chiding myself lately. I need to walk! That's my main form of exercise, and I usually time my walks so I know if they have given me enough exercise time. It's been raining here every day for too long, and I just won't walk in the rain. Next week is supposed to be better here...maybe there will be a sun break suitable for walking.

You might have to do some other kind of ‘moving’ indoors until the weather changes. Best wishes!

I do need to exercise more. Now, I just get a little bit of walking in. Thanks for the great post.

You are welcome Mick. I do too

Recumbent bike four or five times a week for 25 to 40 minutes...it has been a life changer for me

That's great Tim. Don't stop

You make a GREAT point about this current generation--gadgets have become detrimental to their physical health as well as to the joys of growing up like we had when we were kids!

Jeff

O yes. We used to play a lot in the outdoors

As a family we like to do a bit of mountain climbing at the weekends, it's hard during the working week for me to fit in a regular exercise routine but I do a bit of yoga at home with my daughter.

The children have to record "exercise homework" in their journals every day so they are always doing something.

But you are right exercising now will eliminate any mobility issues arising in the future. Thanks for sharing, Jules

You are welcome Jules. Those are good habits to instil in your children
