Could someone please tell me whether you can use the same name for an image file name and its alt text when the name doesn't include a chosen keyword.
I know that you are
Yes I have read website Image optimisation about 3 or 4 times now, but It doesn't answer my question specifically.
The training mentions various times that you shouldn't include a keyword in both places at the same time, but that doesn't explain whether I can use the same text in both places without a keyword in it or not.
I have not used the same text in each place in case I shouldn't do it, but it would be simpler if I could double up on relevant, non-keyword text.

Yes you may......but it defeats the purpose of letting the crawlers know what the image is all about. If it's a person's image, for example, repeating the name is not necessary. Then jus leave the field blank
