1st bump in the road. AdSense?

My application to Google AdSense was not approved. I am not sure exactly why. I think my site offers great value to the user. I don't have any auto generated pages. Maybe the navigation isn't clear enough. It is my 1st website so I am trying not to be to hard on myself about it. Anyone out there have the same problem? What did you do? Anyone out there with any tips or advice? I would like to stay in good standing with Google for obvious reasons. How much does this hurt the site? Everything else is going really smooth. Be sure to check out my site www.stopthatcold.com leave a comment or question and let me know what you think. Best of luck to all. Have a great day.

Hi Josh.
I really like your site. So apt for the moment. I know I personally get at least 1 cold this time of year and the flu. I will definitely be taking advice here.
Thank you so much for your post too. I have left one on yours too.
Thanks for the advice to everyone about the contact us and about me page. I have now placed this on my menu on my website.
Josh, the answers to your questions:

BTW how did you get the ad on the menu side of your page?

When I joined the affiliate program: https://www.awin.com, you can then use the banners available to you. You just have to copy the HTML code they give you and then go to widgets on your Wordpress dashboard and select Custom HTML. You then place this widget where you want on your theme and then pasted the HTML code you copied earlier. There's lots of different size banners to use and I suspect other affiliate programs (Amazon for example) have lots to choose from.

What plug in are you using for your social media links/buttons?

The plug in is called: Social Media and Share Icons (Ultimate Social Media) and once you install it, it's really easy to use and customise, honestly.

Also when you signed into your social media for the setup did you use your personal sign in or did you create separate accounts?

On Facebook I added a business page to my personal page. FB allows you to have these two linked together.
My Google+ account is my personal one and I added my website name to it.

Thanks a lot for your advise.
One final bit of feedback for you. See if you can put 2 or 3 images in your posts so you can make it a bit easier for your readers to stay engaged and they are not just reading a big block of text. Make the images relevant to the content of course.

All the best.
Fermin.

Hi Josh,
Nice, bright website.
I enjoy a glass of hot blackcurrant Vit C drink with a tot (not too much) of rum!
Paul.

Excellent drink for when your feeling not so well. That is one thing I look forward to writing about. Be sure to check back for new info and products that can help. Survive winter.
All the best,
Josh

Will do Josh. Good luck with the site.
Paul.

Hi Josh.
I was declined by Adsense too and not quite sure why.
Their explanation was this:

Insufficient content: To be approved for AdSense and show relevant ads on your site, your pages need to have enough text on them for our specialists to review and for our crawler to be able to determine what your pages are about.

To resolve this issue, please work through the following suggestions:

Make sure that your pages have sufficient text – websites that contain mostly images, videos or Flash animations will not be approved.
Your content should contain complete sentences and paragraphs, not only headlines.
Ensure that your website is fully built and launched before you apply for AdSense – do not apply while your site’s still in a beta or “under construction” phase or only consists of a website template.
Place the ad code on a live page of your website. It does not have to be the main page, but test pages that are empty except for the AdSense ad code will not be approved.
Provide a clear navigation system for your visitors so that they can easily find all of the sections and pages of your website.
Note that blogs and websites that contain only videos will not be approved.

I don't think my site falls into this category. I know I don't have thousands of posts but I would have thought 6 would be appropriate.

Maybe I am missing something if you can help me too figure out what I am missing. My website is: www.myrunningshoesformen.com

I will and thank you.

Looks great. dseney1 was telling me in the comments below hat you need an about me page and a contact us page. I didn't see either on your site. I would start there. That's were I am going to start. Thanks again. BTW how did you get the ad on the menu side of your page and what plug in are you using for your social media links/buttons? Also when you signed into your social media for the setup did you use your personal sign in or did you create separate accounts? Thanks.

I noticed you do not have a contact us page. I would recommend making

There are a few reasons why. If you do not have a contact us page and about me page and a privacy policy page these are the three biggest reasons why you got denied. The other big reason people get denied AdSense is punctuality grammar and spelling.

Thanks for the response. I will check on and correct all those things if needed. I assume that I can re-apply at some point. Thank you again.

I'm not sure what the rules are about reapplying but I'm sure you can. I just sent in my application for AdSense so hopefully I do not get denied! Do me a favor and take a peek at my website and tell me what you think. http://www.electronicsdeal.org

I will and thank you.

Great site. I really like the theme and the social media plug in. Which one are you using? Also did you create separate social media accounts for the plug in or did you use your personal accounts? Thanks.
