A little bit about my progress first

It has been one month since I joined WA and I have decided to start training again from the beginning. I feel like I'm rushing through it. I know I don't need to become an expert on every topic from the start, but I'd like to have a solid foundation. For me, building my website and my business, will be a balance between the urgency of getting things done and a calm attitude of I am in no rush.

The training at WA is outstanding. Both the Online Entrepreneur Certification and Affiliate Bootcamp are well structured and easy to follow. I feel, however, that I am missing out on some excellent WA blog posts. Not only the current ones but also the ones that were there before I joint.

So, because I'm a good student :-), as I go through the different training modules, I'd like to do "extra homework" by going through WA blog posts on specific topics I'm learning. I will select one WA blog post that I believe is interesting, comment on it, and write a post to serve as a bookmark for myself and perhaps other people within the community, especially the new members.

====> I will begin with the topic of Niches.

How to choose a niche -Think like a marketer

In this popular 2014 post (77 comments), Barry notes that to choose a niche, you need to think like a marketer "what you really need to be passionate about is delivering the solutions to the problems your readers have."

He makes an excellent comparison showing how most people think vs. how marketers think:

  • How most people think - "I am going to build a website around my passion" and hope that people click on my links."
  • How marketers think - "I am going to build a website around other peoples passions and make a fortune by solving all their problems".

In my opinion, building your website and your business around your passion is critical. But without a marketer mentality, you are unlikely to become profitable. I feel that there is a win-win compromise solution here.

  • Find other people who share your passion and build your website around solving their problems.

That seems to be a win-win model.

Thank you, Barry, for that insightful post

Your comments agreeing or disagreeing are appreciated and helpful to learn.

Happy blogging!

Welcome, Jose, to Wealthy Affiliate.
You have come to the right platform to learn how to build an online business. You should have gone through some of the lessons. Why not continue with the rest, when you are ready? I agreed with you, "Find other people who share your passion and build your website around solving their problems".
All the best to you and have a wonderful time building up your online business.
