Please Stop...My Eyes Are Bleeding
There's something that I run into every single day surfing around the web and to be honest it kind of makes me sad.
You find this really cool website and the author has a ton of cool things to say.
There's only one problem...
All the content on the site is crafted in such a way
that it can barely be read because there is absolutely
no space to give the eyes a break and it is almost
impossible to keep reading even though you know
somewhere in that giant wall of text is some really
great information, maybe a good joke or at minimum
a really cool story. The author does not realize that
people are going to have to read what he has written
it it is virtually impossible.
I move on to get my information somewhere else because after about 2 minutes I feel like my eyes are bleeding from the strain.
White space is very important in content writing.
- It is much easier on the eyes.
- It is certainly easier for the reader to take in everything you have to say if it is written in small bursts.
- You can actually use the breaks to convey emotion or provoke thought process in your readers.
Leave it sit out there on a line by itself as to say to your reader "think about that for a second" then continue on to answer the question for them.
As writers this is something we need to practice every time we write.
Just a small tip that will make a huge difference.

Thank you so much for this post! I have been guilty of this, and after someone pointed it out, the flow of my articles and content is so much more reader friendly.
I added some more on this subject, here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/gmee/blog/formatting-the-great-wall-of-text
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK OF THIS ALL I KNOW IS THAT I REALLY LIKE TO WRITE IN ALL CAPS. EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT ALL THAT READABLE IT MAKES ME FEEL AS THOUGH I AM POWERFUL, UNDERSTAND? I ALSO DON'T LIKE TO PUT SPACES IN MY CONTENT BECAUSE WHITE SPACE ALWAYS ENDS UP TAKING VALUABLE SPACE IN WHICH I COULD PUT MY BIG BLOCK TEXT WRITING. THANK YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL POST, I AM HOPING IT WILL REGISTER WITH MANY FOLKS HERE AT WA!
I see lots of comments here like this...very tough to read. I usually give up within the first sentence.
I use all caps in online gaming forums if I want to emphasize something or scream something out loud like...
HELLO FANAZ!!
or...
WAIT! I HAVE A PHONE CALL!
...which usually ends up with me being shot :(
Gotta learn to multitask. :D
Yeah, it is ok to use in certain scenarios to emphasize words or small phrases, but don't use an entire block of it like I have above.
Thanks for the tip . I'm one of thews kind of writers

Now I see the light Thank you
I know it can be difficult as we tend to get wrapped up in just getting the words out. It comes from having a passion for something.
When I first started I had someone tell me to go ahead and write it in one big paragraph initially then go back and break it up with space. After awhile I just naturally started writing with space.
Think about it like having a conversation. One big long paragraph would be like talking, talking, talking without giving the other person a chance to get a word in.
Thank you
I just went back to the blog and just did exactly what your tip advised me to do .
it looks much better . .:)

When I come across content that has a lack of "white space", it help me to just print it out on a piece of paper and read it there.
I agree though that web content that is squashed together is very much an eyesore. :(
Yep, it's one of my pet peeves. It actually comes from some articles on copywriting, along the lines of ,"Make it easy to read."
