Site Comment Like a Pro: Comment Styles That Actually Convert

When I first discovered SiteComments at Wealthy Affiliate, I thought: “Easy. I’ll just drop a line like, ‘Great post!’ and call it a day.”

Wrong.

Dead wrong.

Because here’s the truth: SiteComments is not just about filling a box. It’s about building trust, engagement, and authority. A lazy comment is like showing up at someone’s house, knocking on the door, and saying, “Nice house,” before running away. Nobody remembers you.

But the right kind of comment? That’s the one that makes people stop, nod, and think, “This person gets it.”

The Three Comment Styles I’ve Seen

Let me share the types of comments I’ve come across in WA and in life:

1. The Drive-By Comment
Example: “Nice post.”
That’s it. Three seconds of effort. It feels polite, but it adds zero value. It’s like eating air.

2. The “Me-Too” Comment
Example: “I agree, I also think SEO is important.”
Better than nothing, but still flat. You’re repeating the post instead of deepening the conversation.

3. The Pro Comment
Example: “I like how you explained on-page SEO. I struggled with this at first until I started focusing on internal linking. Do you also find it helps reduce bounce rate?”
See the difference? A pro comment validates, adds personal insight, and asks a question. It’s not just feedback. It’s a bridge.

What SiteComments Taught Me About Life

Growing up, we used to sit under lalop trees and share stories. The elders taught us: “Don’t just listen to reply. Listen to connect.”

SiteComments is the same. If you only comment to tick a box and earn credits, you’ll miss the real gift: connections. Real engagement doesn’t just build someone else’s site. It builds your own credibility.

How to Write Comments That Convert

Here’s my simple 3-step formula when I drop comments on WA sites:

  1. Validate – Show the author you actually read their post. (“I like how you broke down…”).
  2. Add Value – Share your related experience or tip. (“I also tried this and…”).
  3. Ask a Question – Keep the conversation alive. (“Have you also tested…?”).

That’s it. No fluff. No “Nice post, bye.” Just three quick steps that turn comments into conversions.

Why This Matters

Inside WA, comments aren’t just “nice to have.” They boost engagement, add SEO juice, and show Google that the content is alive. But more than that, they’re an echo of how we behave in real life.

If you want to be remembered, don’t be the person who just says “hi” and disappears. Be the one who lingers, listens, and leaves behind a thought worth chewing on.

🔥 Pro Tip: The way you comment is a reflection of the way you build relationships. If you practice depth in SiteComments, you’ll naturally practice depth in business. And depth is what makes people trust you enough to click your links, join your list, and buy from you, on your own website, not WA. Learn this from the WA, and then apply it to your website.

So the next time you comment, don’t be a drive-by visitor. Be the guest people want to invite back.

Excellent article. I needed this. I am hesitant to engage with Site Comments because I feel I am not efficient with the quality of my comments. I normally just average 2 comments every month. With this article I will practice with makung comments. Then maybe I will average 3 comments every month 😀

Thanks for sharing, Michael. This is as honest as usual. You can do what you can with the comments system. It helps when you do it right. Quality matters a lot more. It helps both the author and us, when we take time to read and share our thoughts about the piece.

I want to be able to leave real helpful comments so I WILL be doing some practicing.

Yes, and that's a good heart. Practice still makes perfect even in 2026 as someone rightly said many uns ago...

Nice post!

I agree, I also think Comment Styles That Actually Convert is very important.

I like how you broke down the three types of comments.

I also tried this, and I am trying it now as I type.

Have you also tested AI comments? I personally think they suck.

lol

I don't use Site Comments at all - neither to get comments nor to leave comments. They look and feel staged - always - even just looking at the date the post was published and the date the comments came in.

Interesting topic, Jhon. Thanks for sharing!

This is another great post, John.

This is exactly how Site Comments, Site Feedback, and when possible blog comments should be handled.

You continue to prove that you are a teacher and Mentor.

Thanks a lot, JD, for reading, and leaving these kind words. As I have mentioned in other comments in this post, I'm now working on getting more traffic to my website. I'll be sharing more about that as we go through the year.

I might also be traveling about 2 months from now, but I'm a digital nomad already, which is why I'm refocusing on writing for digital nomad like myself, so that the lessons are what I live, not what I read about somewhere with no experience.

Great tips, John. 😁

Kidding aside.

I always try my best to leave meaningful comments that add value to the post instead of merely repeating what the author has said. If I am not very familiar with the topic, I'll simply skip.
