Payouts on the 1st: How to Hit the $10 Threshold Fast
The first time I heard that Wealthy Affiliate pays out on the 1st of every month, I smiled. Not because I was already making money. Far from it, but because it gave me something to look forward to.
Think about it: most people dread the first of the month because of bills. Rent, school fees, debt reminders. But here at WA, the 1st becomes something else; it becomes payday. Even if itâs small, itâs a symbol. Itâs proof. Itâs hope.
But hereâs the rule: you need at least $10 in your payout balance to get paid. Thatâs the threshold. Sounds easy, right? It is if you focus.
My First $24
Iâll be honest: I celebrated my first payout like I had just signed a million-dollar book deal. It wasnât $10. It was $24. And to me, that $24 felt like gold.
I remember walking to the shop, buying something simple, and telling myself: âThis came from my words online.â
Thatâs what makes this system powerful. Itâs not just the money. Itâs the meaning. That first $24 was a signal from the world that my effort was worth something.
Three Fast Tracks to Hit Your Threshold
Now, letâs talk strategy. How do you reach the payout mark without pulling your hair out?
- Cash Credit Opportunities
Do SiteComments, SiteFeedback, or other activities that pay you in Cash Credits. Each one equals $0.50 USD. Just 20 of these and youâve hit $10. Thatâs how small actions stack into real wins. - Affiliate Referrals
Invite someone into WA. If they upgrade, youâre not just crossing the $10 line youâre leaping over it. Premium referrals pay $23.50/month. Premium Plus+ doubles that. And itâs recurring. - Consistency Beats Genius
Donât wait for the âbig fish.â Keep doing small actions that stack up. Ten minutes a day on WA activities adds up faster than one random burst once a month.
Lessons from Life
When I was younger, we used to pick fruits from trees back in the village. Some kids would try to climb high, reach for the biggest fruit at the very top. Many times, they came down with nothing but scratches.
I learned to start with the low-hanging fruit. Collect a basket, celebrate the win, and then climb higher when youâve already fed yourself.
Thatâs what the payout threshold is: your basket of fruits. It doesnât make you rich, but it shows youâre on the right path.
Why It Matters
Some will say: âItâs just $24. Why bother?â But if you dismiss the small wins, youâll never see the big ones. WAâs payout system is teaching us patience, persistence, and proof.
Every 1st of the month, youâre reminded that this is real. That your actions add up. That youâre not just learning; youâre earning.
And believe me, when you go from $24 to $240 to $2,400, youâll look back and thank that first threshold for teaching you discipline.
đ„ So donât ignore the threshold. Treat it like your first finish line, then aim for the next one. Because at WA, the 1st of the month isnât a deadline; itâs a lifeline.

I can relate with you, John. I remember I got paid 19 dollars, but I was more than happy with that, hehe. I always keep in mind that itâs better to have something than nothing. Someday, with all the hard work weâve put in, everything will pay off.
Wen
That's a growth mindset in action, Wen. Thanks for sharing. Let's learn to do the 'right' things rightly, and the results will be the proof in 2026 and beyond.
Thanks for the comments, and for reading. Keep learning. Take action, and see results. This year, I'll focus on my website more than anything else. But I've content scheduled here, plus the updates from my real life that I thought will inspire others.
Cheers!
Hi John, Thank you, I got my first payment today, didn't know anything about the threshold, did even expect to be paid, after all I'm only 30 days in and struggling to keep up with just learning. But I got paid and here as you write about your first payment, I could put things in perspective.
John I got paid $35, as you say it not the amount is the achievement. I really wasn't expecting it and it wasn't my focus. My focus was on learning, absorbing as much as I could and as fast I could the information here at WA.
Your provided a lot of perspective, and help fuel the impetus to continue moving forward. Cheers Thanks for sharing ^_^ appreciated.
Welcome Paul, and congrats on your first payment!
Now, let's not be trapped in this. It's just a token.
Let's build websites, drive traffic, and earn even more.
That's the real focus.
Cheers!
John, I intend to build myself an online business empire. I give myself five years, to achieve what I envision. The USD $35, just simply means that the journey has begun. The process is in ACTION.
Just saying ^_^ Cheers
Thanks again, Paul, for making a 5-year commitment. And now that you have 'proof' you are more than ready to work and take the action needed. Wishing you success!

This is such a great post. And you're right about celebrating the small wins. Because those add up to create the big wins.
My husband and I used to find money all the time. Pennies on the pavement, a nickel or dime here and there, etc. So, one day I got a money jar and wrote on the lid, Found Money! Every time we found a coin, no matter how small, it went into the jar. One day we were walking our dog and the wind blew a $5 bill right in front of us. That went into the jar. Another time, while on my lunch hour, I parked my car at a fast food restaurant. When I got out, there were dollar bills, lots of them being blown across the parking lot. I looked around to see if someone had lost the money, but there was no one. I was chasing dollar bills and by the time I counted what I caught, it was about $60. No telling how much got away.
Anyway, I still have that money jar and I keep adding to it. I won't take anything out until it's full.
WOW, such a real-life story to illustrate something really BIG, but we almost always miss. I think I need a jar not just my computer's bag pocket where I drop coins only to use it whenever I need it. It's always hundreds of shillings by the time I use the money. One coin at a time. It could add up, quickly.
What a great story.
