So you want to be a pilot. why?
That's the question I was asked 67 years ago!
- I was told the chances of getting killed in a plane crash were very high!
- The chance of surviving to an old age was unlikely!
- Pressure is enormous.
- Why do you want to put yourself through this?
- Well, I'm 83 years old. Survived over 40 as a pilot!
- Never had one plane crash... did one forced landing in a helicopter.
- Flew through some horrible weather!
- Scared the pants off myself several times!
- Still don't have a reason why I did it... just wanted to!
- Do you have enough reason to stick with it?
- Are you in for the long haul?
- This ain't no sprint to riches!
- Are you willing to weather the storms?
- Can you take the near misses and failure?
Think about this quote from Fredrich Nietzsche:
"He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how."
I ask you again... why are you doing this?

You can do and be anything you want to be and do. My school teacher mother told me that when I was a wee child and it stuck to me.

Hi Joe,
Yes, I can relate to the above both as a pilot for the best part of 30 years and as a marketer.
My flying came from a deep founded passion at the age of about 5yrs......it has never left me and most probably never will.
I have always been fascinated by the business world as to what makes this world tick and go around? A school teacher once asked me what I would like to do after school. I looked him straight in the eye and said: " I would love to be a pilot and do business on an international scale". Little did I know that one day due to the advent of the internet this dream would be possible in more ways than one.
Your above analogy is absolutely spot on and thanks for sharing.
Wishing you sunny blue skies.
Take care........Johan.

That "WHY" question coming from you Joe... I could answer that in less than 3 minutes... and you will surely accept it and tell me "That's great!"... and end of discussion...
However from my four year old "WHY" it's an infinite question wherein every answer brings in more why... but that motivates me to bear almost ANY HOW to end the discussion ^-^
Seriously, it really is important to know the reason why we are doing things... it gives us the stamina to do whatever it takes and keep going.
Thank you for sharing!~^
