Flight of the Gooney Bird!
Graceful bird in the air...
- Most hilarious bird on take-off and landing!
- The Douglas DC 3 airplane is called the "Gooney Bird."
- Takeoffs and landings in the Gooney Bird are difficult.
- Many members have trouble getting started...
- Later they soar and do great.
- It's the flight... The journey that's important.
- Not the landing... It's the journey.
- Will you crash before you finish?
- Quit and crash on landing?
- So many come to WA with high expectations and little desire to do the work.
- Not sure what everyone looks for here at WA?
- This is not a free lunch... no one will do the work for you!
- The internet is littered with many carcasses who had big dreams and little ambitions.
- Will your take-off be smooth and you'll soar?
Let me leave you with this quote from Booker T. Washington:
"I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has had to overcome while trying to succeed."
Success here at WA, or anywhere for that matter, depends on only one person... YOU!
Will you do it?

Good post joe, I like to get a little help from my wife. She is more articulate than me. Helps me with sentence structure, punctuation, etc.
Like the Gooney bird--some of us have funny looking take-offs and landings. It is the journey --it's always the journey where we can level out and fulfill our goals. We may be on that journey for quite a while, and may actually change course before we can call it a done deal. It takes a lot of energy to stay the course.

I totally agree. My success in anything depends on me. I can offer all the excuses about circumstances or the internet or non supportive family, but lack of success is on me. When I lived in the north, the DC 3 was the workhorse. I spent many many hours flying in those.
Yeah, mostly right seat time for me. Loved the ole bird.
