Should I Go Back to The 9-5?
Hey, Wealthy Affiliates, recently, I've been considering returning to a 9 to 5 job because my income sources have been lower and more inconsistent as of late.
You see, the thing is I do freelance video editing and the occasional recording for my friend's company but I don't get jobs frequently enough from him for it to be a viable income source.
I also get some change online every now and then from Fiverr, but apart from those two sources, I'm not generating any income.
I figure it's going to be a while before my website starts making any money so I was wondering if I should go back to a nine to five in the meantime.
The only problem is that I still want to continue working with my friend when he was a job for me every now and then because it does pay well. And I'm currently doing a 365 challenge, where I train parkour every day. Not to mention the time I spend with my girlfriend would dwindle.
I'm also looking into joining a talent agency, so I could get paid for staring in advertisements and add an extra source of income to my randomly occurring revenue stream.
So I'm worried that with a regular day job I would not get to keep on doing all that I have going on right now.
Should I go back to working full-time and training the early mornings/afternoons, work on my website on the weekend, and do everything else whenever I have the free time? I just don't think two days out of the week would be enough to continue doing the things I enjoy.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on the matter. Do you have a 9 to 5, or are you considering returning to one? And would you recommend I keep doing the side jobs until my website picks up or go back to the 9-5 and invest that money into my website.
Thanks for reading WAs!
Cheers!

One thing that is obvious is that if you do not have enough income coming in you have to change something that you are doing. It does not necessarily mean going back to a 9 to 5 but it does mean something you are doing needs to be changed or stepped up.
For instance on the Video editing have you listed yourself with, elance, freelance, guru.com etc looking for work? Have you contacted local companies that do videoing and editing to offer your services. I know a lot of places outsource much of the work today. Think outside the box. What can I do to open the door for more income.
Another option if you feel the need to get a job is to work part time not full-time until you start generating more income.
Wow, thank you, Bo, those are some really great ideas!
I have an editing gig up on Fiverr, but they recently changed their setting to make it mandatory to have up a portfolio/showreel for your gig, so I need to edit one and upload before they can make my gig available again.
As for the other online freelancing websites, I'm on UpWork but haven't gotten a job from it yet. I think I'll check out elance and guru.com
The only thing about approaching companies is that my personal editing setup isn't as powerful as the own I use over at my friend's company so I will only be able to accept small jobs until I can upgrade.
But thank you again for all the suggestion. You were a great help!
Best,
