Creative Individuality
My youngest daughter is in her first year of GCSE's, and we were discussing her GCSE Art project.
She said how she was looking at a Year 11 student's art project and how she thought it was brilliant. Telling her tutor so, she was advised that this particular student would lose points because the artwork was her own style and not a style copied from a well known artist.
My daughter was baffled, because the piece was so brilliant!
We discussed how we should be encouraging children to be their own creative individuality rather than copying another's style. As I have taught my daughters growing up.
I quoted Doreen Virtue to my daughter, "Be Yourself. An orignal is always worth more than a copy."
Whilst my daughter understood the neccessity to follow the rules in order to get her grades, I pressed the point to never lose sight of her own individuality.
So remind yourself, your partner, our children, be yourself!
Be creative in your own way! Believe in your values and yourself!

Well said Joanne. It is good to understand the rules for a grade, but never loose sight of individuality. To many copy cats in the world today in my opinion.
