Blogging into my Niche

Day 3 is where I am supposed to select my Niche for my first website.

I should be able to do this very easily - I've explained the process to others enough - and honestly the actual doing part is very simple. Pick a broad topic of interest - WA breaks these down into Passion, Interest and Hobbies - and then narrow the field using one of several tools until you get something that is narrow enough that not a lot of offerings exist while still being broad enough that there is enough interest to gain a following. The problem that i seem to be having is in the Narrowing-my-options area.

I am an artist ... a writer, a hobby gamer, and game designer. I create digital art - both the kind that you look at for appreciation or entertainment as well as the kind used for marketing and sales - and I create tangible crafts. I work in paint, watercolor, clay, leather and any other material I can get my hands on. I play games, I create characters, I build worlds. I run games - an interesting topic unto itself - which means I create plots, build stories and play referee to a table full of adults acting both like gallant heroes and cry-babies at the same time.

What this all boils down to is this. I have a lot of Niche options - most of which, on their own, do not offer a very sizable following. Grouped together, however, the following explodes until there is too much competition to truly call it a niche.

And then - just now - I hit on something that I had not considered yet. Advice and Commentary on building and running a role playing game. A quick search over at DMOZ.org shows me 9 current options under the topic of Games: RPGs: FAQs and Tutorials. I know I can write articles and posts on a myriad of topics in this genre, so why not?

I think i found my Niche.
