Day 1 on my first website
Day 1 on my first website
My first website is about emotionally (and/or physically) unavailable people.
At last I've put in an about me (us) page. It's in essence an about me page but in the context (of similar people I am trying to address) it's more like an about us page. :) It's a little embarrassing because the topic is mostly introspective, but it is a popular topic for readers of books and articles.
I have never written any blog post or page before, so this was a good chance to see how long I took on writing one. My about page is 967 words long (as of now), which took about an hour in one sitting, but an hour more in taking it easy and making some changes. The concentration while writing was good, although modifying it wasn't really a concentrated activity. All in all, this experience should give me an idea of how many hours I should invest on this particular website.
The obvious answer would be as many hours as possible, but this website is not really an affiliate site. It's to be a platform for the ebooks I plan to write on amazon through self publishing. As a platform I should have several blog posts in place soon, whilst writing the first ebook.
I have no idea why I did this particular website first, before others that I also would like to run...but there it is. The niche is there, with a huge market for ebooks. Affiliate links for own books will be good to have on the website, besides things to serve the book promotion and readership communication purposes.

Thank you, Wayne. It's great that you can always go back and change things you've written, unlike something printed. Since last night I have already decided that my focus was too narrow to serve the purpose I had in mind. Oh well. :)
Hi JM that is reall good the journey has begun in earnest. So pleased for you , best wishes. I am looking forward to more developments, your profile is so interesting.
Thanks very much, Alexander. I'm starting to realize now that this is the kind of work where nearly 100% depends on yourself. It's so easy to just slack off., or so I imagine! The best of luck to you too.
That is one of the hardest things to keep on top of, keeping ourselves focused, that's where the community comes into its own.
Thanks! Well, it's not really progress since it is what I started with. I've always written a lot, just not blog posts. I've written a sort of heavy subject book and dissertations etc. :D It's all very different because I have to try and be colloquial and all that...for now I should just write write write!
The best thing is that you can always go back in and change things later. For now, it's just important to get content, but seriously, you're doing great :)
Thank you, Jude. I've been writing in the still of the night here. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Thanks! It's still all a bit uncertain but will soon be going at it!
