It is nearly Sunday here and this has to be said today. I want to express special thanks to those among you who fought for the UN and South Korea in the Korean War that began on June 25th 1950. Troops were sent from sixteen nations:

Australia

Belgium

Canada

Columbia

Ethiopia

France

Greece

Luxembourg

Netherlands

New Zealand

Phillippines

South Africa, Republic of

Thailand

Turkey

United Kingdom

United States

Many, many more nations gave material and medical aid during and after the war.

Regardless of differences of opinion on Democracy, Freedom, War, Communism or Northeast Asian Politics, it is an undisputed fact that I would not be here, being who I am and doing what I do in ways I take for granted, had the veterans not shed their blood and lost their lives. I sincerely wish you and yours true happiness and the very best of everything in life and here at WA!

Very nice words, JM. My brother was one of them men that served in your country during the war. I think that there will always be a special relationship between the US and S. Korea.

Very special thanks to you and your family, Wayne. It is really great to know your personal connection to the war. Wishing the very best for your brother, wherever he might be. At times like these the world seems so closely knit together!

Well said!! I have always loved the Korean people and today can say that I have many Koreans friends. Take care.

That is so sweet of you, Jm. I didn't know that the Philippines was part of your history. All the best for you, too! God bless your heart!

Thank you for those words, Betcha. It must have been a huge sacrifice especially so shortly after the WWII. God bless you and your family!

Having been through a civil war myself, I would say it was a great sacrifice, though I wasn't born in WWII. And hearing such gratefulness swells up my heart. It is a great example that we all should emulate.

Well, I've always felt it but haven't really expressed it until I saw a photo in yesterday's newspaper. It's of the villagers closest to the north, who would definitely have been incorporated into North Korea had not the countries come. They made a little garden of all their national flags. :) Some of them are old enough to actually have been in the war.

Thanks for sharing. We need to read, see, and know the sacrifices made that makes us enjoy the freedom we have. I see children, young people, and even adults take things for granted. There are those who think that they are entitled to everything and are angry when they don't get what they want ~greed and unthankfulness, you know.

Yeah there are so many instances that had better not be told because they are depressing, funny and sad at the same time. Hope you experience only good things from now on. Having been through a war is something I can only imagine. Thanks for your sharing too.

We are indeed fortunate that others cared so much in previous times, blessings to all JM.

Thank you, Alexander. I guess it's another reason for us to care. Bless you too, sir!

JM, I'm from the USA. I remember reading about the war and how my country was able to provide assistance towards the outcome that you and I are here to talk about through our relationship here at WA.

Thanks for the message, Ricardo. Your country is still the deterring force against nuclear attack, because it's only a ceasefire we are living with. The presence of US troops as a topic is sometimes abused for the sake of politics here, but everyone with sense knows we need them and shouldn't jeopardize the situation. Gratitude is due. :)

JM, what is your first name? Take a look at my training on "It's A Progression". Give me your feedback and comments. Thank you!

Ah J and M are my actual initials but, since I am contemplating a controversial website on Korea, and since it is very well wired and little things can escalate very easily here, I didn't want to leave traces of my full name, just in case I link my website here. You can call me JM for now :) And thanks for your training!

JM, thank you and I understand. God bless you!

I am from Australia, so glad that our Country was able to assist! Live well and be happy! All the best, Lisa

Thank you, Lisa. You have every reason to be proud of your country!
