I Need Help.Application For Amazon Affiliate Rejected?

NOT a very happy Monday for me...

I recieved the following email from Amazon this morning...

I applied for this application over 2 months ago, have posted over 26 articles and gaining steam, have been getting increased traffic to my site, and have even made a few sales! (only adding up to about 5.00, but sitll!)

The email says that the URL may have been invalid or lists other reasons, none of which I can figure out why.

I feel defeated. I feel like giving up. I want to reapply (honestly it had been 2 months I didn't realize I wasn't accepted at this point) but that will mean I will have to go back and fix ALL my links I have already created to a new account, correct?

I feel like screaming. I am worried that if I try to go through this again, it will happen again.

Please someone help or give me some direction.

Here is my site URl for reference:

Wish I could help but am going through the same thing.
Jerry

I am sorry to hear that Jerry, but it makes me feel a bit better that someone else is in a similar boat. Let me know if you figure it out! I put in a ticket with the help desk and they said they didn't find anything wrong & got the green padlock. They suggested contacting Amazon and asking them what the issue was. I put in a ticket with Amazon and am hoping they will get back to me soon so I can try to resolve the issue.
Jennie

Hi Jennie, you are well ahead of me but I feel your pain totally. It sounds like you have a good contact here in Gary so I hope you sort it out. I'm going to bookmark this link because, not being the least bit technical I can see me running into this sort of situation in the future! I hope that doesn't sound mercenary of me(!)

I wish you all the best with your website and the baby too

Alison xx

Alison, thanks for your thoughts! So far I haven't been able to find something wrong and am hoping to hear back from Amazon soon. Just super frustrating as I felt like I was just turning a corner with my site...now so much work lies ahead to fix this no matter what I uncover!
Jennie

Good luck Jennie, I'm sure you will fix it soon. So many kind and knowledgeable people here.

Jennie,

I took a look at your website.
You are trying to do an https secure site, but apparently, you have some unsecured information that is being pointed to.
This could be links you have on your site going to other insecure sites or even an image pointing to something insecure.

Unless Amazon gave you some other explanation I would tend to think this is your issue.

I hope this helps, my best,
Gary

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your input. How can you tell there is unsecure information? (How do I find it?) I don't like to many other outside websites and have been trying to use approved free image sites and my own but if there is something there, I want to make sure I fix it so I don't spend all my time changing these links and end up with the same result. Very frustrating.

Hi,

I understand your frustration, I try to deal with facts which when resolved will hopefully help with the emotions.

I just ran a test for you, copy and paste your domain name and test to get the results I got.
https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html

It will look like a lot of jibberish to you perhaps, but near the bottom, I am seeing "Handshake Failures"

Also, it mentions the transition from HTTP to HTTPS causing this "Mixed Content" situation.

You may wish to open a support ticket, explain your situation and give them the link to the test.

I am not sure if they can clean up anything on their side or not. If not it may mean going through posts manually to un-mix the content.

I obtained my Amazon membership when I was an HTTP and converting to HTTPS did not affect my membership.
I wonder if you went back to HTTP and re-applied to Amazon if this would help?
Then you could work on cleaning things up before trying HTTPS again.
That may be a question for support, but as a technician that would be my 1st step.

Gary

Gary,

I appreciate you taking the time to run the test. You are right that at the moment it is very emotional for me (it doesn't help that I am 6 months pregnant!) but I agree, that dealing with facts is best.

I am not sure what the test means at all, as I am so new to all of this and have no clue about the technical side. I am going to try and put in a support ticket and see if they can offer me some guidance. No errors have come up on my site manager or google webmasters so I haven't been aware of anything.

I already reapplied to Amazon..now I am wondering if I shouldn't have done that. So much information and so confusing..

Thank you for your help!
Jennie

Here is another link to check out. I just helped William and he had success with trying one of the tools.
https://managewp.com/blog/wordpress-ssl-settings-and-how-to-resolve-mixed-content-warnings

William wrote me back this...
...Thanks...I went to the page and the SSL Insecure Content Fixer plugin did the trick!

Take a look and see if this will help?
Don't worry about your 2nd application, it will probably be rejected until you resolve some issues.

Relax, try to absorb what you can & apply the knowledge.
Never stop asking questions, you'll be fine.

Gary
...

Jennie,
I would like to say I understand about being pregnant but I really don't.
However, I am a pretty decent technician.
Gary

Thanks Gary for the info. I put in a ticket with the support desk and they were unable to find anything wrong and said they got a green padlock. They suggested I contact Amazon, so I did. Hoping they can give me some direction.
I will try the plug in and see if I find anything....I just honestly don't know what I am looking for so it is super confusing. Everything looks to be in working order when I look other areas. I went to the site and ran the test on my site and it gave me an A rating so I am just not sure.....
Will continue to see if I can figure out the issue.
Jennie

Jennie,
I think they must have cleaned something up for you your site
https://thetoysthatteach.com/ came up secure in 2 different browsers.
You should be good to go.

By going through the lessons step by step helps eliminate the confusion. I don't think they cover what you experienced, however.

A lot of the issues are not things you will generally have to be concerned with.
You just want to keep writing and grow your site within your niche.
All my best,

Gary

Thanks Gary, so frustrating!! Oh well, guess I will work on fixing the links and continue trucking on!

I really appreciate your support through all of this! It was very helpful!
Jennie

My pleasure, I am just happy your issue is resolved.
My best,
Ciao,

Gary
