Being on hiatus more often than working on my WA life is getting old.

There ought to be a law...

Since I joined WA back in January 2017, the "loss of interest" breaks I've taken seem to always be more frequent and lengthy than the stretches of time I spend making progress here at WA and on my websites.

There oughta be a law that says when an aspiring writer gets into a mental funk, the Good Attitude fairies will get together with the Muses to fix the afflicted writer's broken mind plumbing so he can get his lazy ass back to work!

This latest break has lasted since September, when I experienced a sudden loss of a place to live for almost a month. (I have a hard time calling the experience "being homeless") That issue, fortunately, has been resolved. Now I just need to climb out of the self-pity hole I've been digging for myself since that traumatic event.

Any recommendations for girding one's loins for these inevitable and all-too-frequent interruptions of my productivity?

I think you can create a book regarding that eagle on your hand.

Well, I am sure you have experience these "funks" in other areas of your life at some time or another. Apply the same principles you used then to the WA funk. You know how to solve it.

On my novels when I'm stumped, but have an idea of where I want to go, I simply start writing--longhand on a pad. I always tell my self that even if it is just a paragraph a day, then I got something accomplished. My books average between 45,00 and 70,000 words and I've written six of them in the last year and a half. Usually I write in the morning by allotting myself 30 minutes each and every day! The same thing for your website posts should work quite nicely. Just grab a pen and start to write whatever comes to mind! You can edit it later!

Hope this helps a little, Joe!

No, I don't have any wise words. Because I have the same struggles. What does help me though is to put it on my calendar. And slap myself in the face and say, "Just Do It".
That's what I am going to do right now. Let us know when you get back on the horse. You have very engaging writing, so let the world see it!
