I'm really troubled by some of the things I've read lately. I love my dogs and they depend on me for everything. So it really bothers me when I read about how the dog food, medicine, etc. industry is largely unregulated. Now don't get me wrong, I am not a fan over over regulation at all, but when somethings that could impact my dogs health goes unchecked, I get upset.

This article upset me so much! I assumed that it was because I am a sympathetic soul and I love dogs. Anything that hurts a dog, upsets me. Another day we'll talk about how much I love dogs. But anyway, as I thought about it, it just kept bothering me more and more.

I know I do not and will not give my boys the combination Flea, Tick, & Heartworm medicine. Then it dawned on me, several years ago, I had two other standard poodles, Bailey, who was a rescue and Owen who was a puppy. We tried Trifexis, it is cheaper than the other medicines. If I remember right, it had just come out. I had a terrible time getting them to eat it. It was a hard disk not the soft chewy heart worm prevention (Heart Guard)they normally took. They like it. I returned the Trifexis to the vets office. They had one, possible two doses. Bailey died, soon after, well, he was 12 1/2 and had problems. The puppy, Owen, started having seizures, within a week of Bailey's death. Those seizures escalated into cluster seizures, and he died during a seizure before he was two years old.

I didn't think of it at the time, we were devastated. But now I wonder....
