I thought I was writing a unique webpage and I was except I did not cite my references. Here my nose was out of joint. I was a school teacher, but being 73 years old I needed to learn some things one writes about a product. I have a vast amount of pages and posts ideas I have not included yet in my website. I just got out of the hospital and need to focus on PLAGAIRIZING!!

I defend myself and tell you that plagiarizing did not have the same meaning in my school days as it does now. So I did what a lot of people do and that is to rationalize that I put everything in my own words, BUT on reflection, although not cognizant of matter, I believe I was plagiarizing. I went to work and researched the topic and found two university site, one Perdue, gave all the factual information about Plagiarizing. I will copy and paste, but I used WordPad to write it out. Lots have been left out.

SOME COMMON FEATURES, ALTHOUGH NOT EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED,OF SITE CITATIONS FOR A GOOD REFERENCE. I COPIED AND PASTED THIS PART. THIS INFORMATION IF FROM PURDUE UNIVERSITY. SEARCH GOOGLE > PLAGAIRISM > PURDUE UNIVERSITY.

Basic Style for Citations of Electronic Sources (Including Online Databases)

* Author and/or editor names (if available)

* Article name in quotation marks.

* Title of the website, project, or book in italics.

* Any version numbers available, including editions (ed.), revisions, posting dates, volumes (vol.), or issue numbers (no.).

* Publisher information, including the publisher name and publishing date.

* Take note of any page numbers (p. or pp.) or paragraph numbers (par. or pars.).

* Date you accessed the material (Date Accessed).

* URL (without the https://) DOI or permalink.

* Remember to cite containers after your regular citation. Examples of containers are collections of short stories or poems, a television series, or even a website. A container is anything that is a part of a larger body of works.

Use the following format:

Author. Title. Title of container (self contained if book), Other contributors (translators or editors), Version (edition), Number (vol. and/or no.), Publisher, Publication Date, Location (pages, paragraphs and/or URL, DOI or permalink). 2nd container’s title, Other contributors, Version, Number,Publisher, Publication date, Location, Date of Access (if applicable). citation, the elements should be listed in the following order:

Author.

Title of source.

Title of container,

Other contributors,

Version,

Number,

Publisher,

Publication date,

Location.

Each element should be followed by the punctuation mark shown here. Earlier editions of the handbook included the place of publication, and required punctuation such as journal editions in parentheses, and colons after issue numbers. In the current version, punctuation is simpler (just commas and periods separate the elements), and information about the source is kept to the basics.

Author--LAST NAME FOLLOWED BY A COMMA >>BOOK IN ITALICS; WEBSITE IN ITALICS

CITING AN ENTIRE WEBSITE--

Citing an Entire Web Site

It is a good idea to list your date of access because web postings are often updated, and information available on one date may no longer be available later. When using the URL, be sure to include the complete address for the site except for the https://.

Editor, author, or compiler name (if available). Name of Site. Version number, Name of institution/organization affiliated with the site (sponsor or publisher), date of resource creation (if available), URL, DOI or permalink. Date of access (if applicable).

Felluga, Dino. Guide to Literary and Critical Theory. Purdue U, 28 Nov. 2003, www.cla.purdue.edu/english/theory/. Accessed 10 May 2006.

THERE IS AN ABUNDANCE OF MATERIAL. CITING MAY LOOK INTIMIDATING, BUT ONCE LEARNED, THE MATTER IS SIMPLE. IN A WEBSITE, THE AUTHOR IS ON THE LEFT USUALLY AND THE PUBLISHING DATE OR PUBLISHER IS ON THE RIGHT. YOU CAN CLICK THE ABOUT ME PAGE ON A WEBSITE AND THE REST OF THE INFORMATION THEN IS GIVEN.

YOU CAN GET THE HANDBOOK ON THE MLA 8TH EDITION ON AMAZON. I FOUND ONE FOR $ 17.87 AND ALSO THE APA UPDATE IS AVAILABLE TOO.

My website is not listed under my name. It is not finished. I want to add more posts and use more drop down pages. I need help with the homepage. www.findmejeans.com

Thanks for the information. The topic has changed since my school days. Now, every word can be researched.

Great links, and share. thanks, and saving and checking them out.

Actually just going to study a few of your links :) thanks again :)

oo it enlightened me, thank you for a fantastic post JK

Thank you for saying that you liked my post. I also found something on video about SEO. Very interesting. Instead, for example, of the usual comment box and so forth after your page content, he recommends putting some incentive "buttons" such as, Act now and get a ---free. He is a young man and has several videos. wears a beanie type hat with his hair sticking out. Just got out of the hospital and had trouble getting login with WA. I need to write down all my user and passwords. How are you tonight? I am a little tired. If you have time, look at my Unfinished website. www.findmejeans.com Would feel privilege if you offered some feedback. Talk to you again. by by Judy

There are quite a few site that check your content. Not only the grammar, spelling and punctuation but also plagiarizing. I had Grammarly but you have to pay for the plagiarizing part, but the rest is free. They give you a week after you have made a payment to cancel your Grammarly account. Need to look it up for accuracy. Again, my nose was out of joint. You can not just change a few words here and there and say you were just summarizing. It really must be your own words, which is difficult to do on a product. Tires--okay. Post: how tires are made. Post: Comparison of tires. Post: Answers people always want to know about tires. Post: What companies have never had a recall of tires. Now those posts are not easy to write in your own words completely all the way through.
Yes things have changed since I was in school too. If you are older, even punctuation would be good to have a cite check for that too. I was putting commas everywhere. Oh if you use the word big in a sentence then it is recommended to try another word.
If you like a different type of post, check out "Everyone has a Story." It was over 3,000 words. But it is like reading a play. May cut it down to about 1,500 words if I can. It just isn't an ordinary type of post. Some friend told me that I just thought about "things" differently. So if anyone would like to read it on my UNFINISHED website, it is www.findmejeans.com
I want to hurry and continue my steps. Being in the hospital, the plagiarizing incident, spending time writing more and trying to finish what I have now has lent me little time to the courses and lessons, which I diligently try to follow closely. But I always have questions so I go for the little white bar at the top. Google keeps me preoccupied too. I have lots of followers.
Everyone have fun. by by Judy
