I have found that the power of Google Adwords is AMAZING! I decided to start a campaign to promote Wealthy Affiliate membership and used a Google Adwords coupon code that I received from Jay for a homework assignment on a WAbinar about anchor pages. My first month results were emailed to me and I was amazed at the results. The campaign attracted my first four new affiliates, (non of which have gone on with Wealthy Affiliate) but I wanted to see how much power that Google Adwords had.

The coupon code covered most of the expense and I set my daily budget at a mere three dollars per day. The results are shown and have my head spinning, wondering how much higher the traffic would have been had I set a higher daily budget.

If you are selling anything, I would suggest Google Adwords. The power of Google and the Internet is truly a marketing wonder!

You bet, I wish I could provide more help here on WA, but there is so much talent and Kyle and Carson have so much knowledge it is hard to compete with a knowledge base like theirs!

Following up on what I just mentioned.. The keywords you chose are far too broad for PPC. With those keywords you could have burned through $1000's of dollars a day in ad spend and you would have not seen any better results. Broad keywords = broad traffic, and that means LOW conversion rates.

Also...

LIttle to no relevant on the landing page from your Google Adwords Ads = ZERO conversions too.

We will be getting into PPC within the WA Affiliate bootcamp, but not until we have the sites built out with lots of relevant content that we can send that PPC traffic to.

Thanks for you feedback Carson, I see what you are talking about. If I had to pay the total bill I probably would have refined what I did. I was experimenting with Adwords as I had never used it before and the coupon from Jay gave me an incentive to try it! I will remember your advice though when I do have to foot the bill. It's definitely exiting and it really opens up a lot of opportunity when you can harness the power of Google Adwords to drive traffic. When Kyle and I started Internet marketing, PPC was THE ONLY WAY, and we've been working with Adwords for 10 years now. We really look forward to creating some highly targeted training on how to drive massive amounts of relevant traffic to your WA Affiliate links.

Where it says clicks "45,778", what is that there? With Adwords you really need to make sure that you are getting your ads displayed on GOOGLE to start, and not partner networks. This is why we always recommend turning the content network OFF. You want to get traffic form Google when people search for your keywords, not from sites serving adsense ads because you never know who the audience is and if they are truly looking for what you are advertising.

My suggestion to anyone using Adwords is to focus on GOOGLE traffic, and turn off partner sites to start. Aim for keywords that are targeted and not broad, and fine-tune your landing pages.

A keyword like "make your own website", needs to have a landing page that is 100% all about building websites. Sending someone to your WA profile form a PPC ad is not going to produce any results.

Google Adwords is absolutely AWESOME for generating traffic, you're right about that, but it takes relevant landing pages to convert the traffic that you have paid for.

Hi Carson, how do you turn content network OFF?

Hi Carson, really excited about you 'creating some highly targeted training on how to drive massive amounts of relevant traffic to your WA Affiliate links' as said above. Just curious, will this apply accross all niches too? There are some great tutorials in PPC classroom but it doesn't seem like there is a full step-by-step PPC certification course in here for beginners? Like in the pre Open Education Project?
