SLAVERY (job) verses FREEDOM (entrepreneur)
When I was a boy, I found out that I was related to not one, but two past presidents of the United States of America. The first one was on my mom's side. Her last name is Grant, and through her dad I am related to Ulysess S. Grant. On my dad's side and through his mom, I am related to the greatest president ever... Abraham Lincoln. He is my 8th cousin removed. If you could see how the new school history books that are making him out to be a bad president, it would make you hurl.
What two things did Abe accomplish for America? He helped to free slaves and he ended the civil war. The new history books tell something else. Us older people know the truth. With that said, I want to make a comparison of two things; slavery and freedom. I will be comparing slavery to a job first off. Then I will talk about true freedom as I know it.
The life of a slave was one that was very hard and sometimes painful. A slave could not do anything without the masters permission. Their lives were completely controlled by their masters. To obtain a slave, all you had to do was gather some money together and go to the slave market. There you had them displayed on a box or crate with someone yelling how good they were and how they could make you a good slave. Horrid!
Slaves were treated very cruelly. They were thought of as property like a wagon or a parcel of land. They had no rights at all. Slaves were beaten when they angered their "masters". They were given a place to stay with food and clothing but they worked many hours a day with no pay at all. If they tried to run away they were beaten. If more then once they were hanged. Some slave masters even raped the young slave women for fun.
If you are like me and your new here at Wealthy Affiliate you probably still have a job. I can say with some confidence that having a job is similar to slavery. Allow me to explain.
To obtain a job, one must first apply for a job. This is were you tell someone why you "want" to work for them and what you have to offer . The better your qualifications, the better your chance of getting hired. Once you have a job your life changes.
Now that you are working, there are some things you have to change in your life. You have to get up at a set time so you can get ready to go to your new job. This means you must go to bed at a set time so you get the rest you need for the next day. Once you are at work, you have certain things that have to be finished before you are allowed to go home. If you don't work, you get no pay.
You may have to punch a clock before you start work. You may be on salary. Usually it is a set price that you get for every hour you work. All I know is that it usually is not enough. You are told when to eat and take a break. When to be at work and when to go home. You are allowed a week to vacation. This controls were you can go and how much you can do.
You are basically controlled by who you work for and your life seems a drudgery because of it. If you don't work, you don't eat or are unable to pay bills. It is a never ending cycle that slowly drains your life away.
Freedom to me is walking away from all of this. Taking back control of what you do and where you can go when you want. It means no one tells you that you have to be at a certain place at a certain time. You can sleep as long as you want to. You can take a vacation just because you want to visit somewhere you have never been before.
Freedom means you can come and go as you wish. Take a stroll instead of a walk. Enjoying the scenery around you, I mean really enjoy it! You can take a long bath or shower knowing you have nowhere to be. You can go to a sit down restaurant where they cook your food to order and you can eat slowly.
Freedom means you have enough money to go around, so time really doesn't mean much to you. You start to slow down and really live life again. Family can be family. You can sit down with them and just talk and talk and talk. You can take your wife out and really have fun because you have no where else to be. You can enjoy your friends and they can enjoy your company.
Freedom means never having to work for the man again!!!
That is why you have become an entrepreneur. You want your freedom back. The kind you had when you were little. No worries, no job, you were discovering life and it was discovering you. Your mind was truly at peace then. This is why you are here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are tired of the hustle and bustle of life. You want to live free and not have to live by a schedule. When you lay your head down to rest, your mind is finally free and you can fall fast asleep.
Is slavery truly abolished? Or have we just changed the name and terms of the word? Are you really free today with a job? Or are you just another slave? FREEDOM IS LIVING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES. Where are you and where will you be soon?

Freedom is having a choice ! Are Entrepreneurs really free ? I owned my own business for over 35 years. Was I free ? Yes and no. You will never work as hard in your life as when you are running your own business. When you are not at work you are thinking of work 24-7, 365 days of the year. The hardest job I ever had was working for my self. I could wright a book on why entrepreneurs are not free, but I could also wright a book on the freedoms they do have.
Freedom means different things to different people. After 35 years of running my own business, I was relieved to work for somebody else. I was glad somebody else was the boss. Ecstatic really. I could go home and not think or worry about the job or work, or employees( that bring all of their problems to work and to you, making their problems your problems). I don't miss that at all. To me working for somebody else is freedom. No worries, be happy !
If you really want total freedom you would have to be born independently wealthy, and never need a job of any kind.
Freedom means different things to different people. I have worked all my life for someone else and it sucks. That is why I am starting my own online business. I want the freedom I know that comes with it. Good comment t d. Thanks you for it.
