Wordpress users: Delete admin?
I've been here on Wealthy Affiliate less than a month. I've taken time to look at other member websites and noticed a number of articles and comment replies authored by "admin". I always suggest that it be changed to the a named user. One way to make sure this is done is to delete the admin user before you post anything. Be careful if you delete admin later.
I've set up a number of websites prior to coming to WA. Learning Wordpress, I was routinely advised to delete the admin user as it is a target for hackers. Maybe with improved security systems that is no longer the case.
On my earlier websites the first things I did on a new site was add myself as an Administrator and delete admin. No posts or pages were ever attributed to admin.
Here I hesitated since deleting admin didn't seem to come up in the early training. A little bit later in the WA training there is a module on adding users.
Bottom line...to avoid attributing content to the admin ghost, I suggest you set up a new Administrator immediately and delete admin on new sites. On an existing site, you can delete admin but make sure to follow the steps to attribute all content to another user before finalizing it.
Let me know if you agree or disagree. Thanks.

I understand the point. I have multiple email addresses so adding a new user and deleting admin is no big deal. Also, I think the method you're proposing can change how you show the author but it doesn't change the default user name.
Again, no expert on security but I never keep a default name, password, etc if I can avoid it. Here's a relatively recent video from InMotion Hosting about deleting the admin user for security purposes. https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/wordpress/change-wordpress-admin-username-for-security
you are better off editing the admin account to have your name and a gravatar then deleting it. As that is the one that is associated with your email address. It is the one that was used for the domain registration too.
I would personally not delete it

I agree. Plus, I use complicated user names that make it harder to guess.
Great point. I tend to use a user name unrelated to any of the names on the website. I often use the name of my first dog :)
