Why is your website so slow? I'll tell ya!

There are 2 simple things you can do to speed up your site. They take an instant to solve. Not hours of toil and trouble.

ONE

Make sure too many blog posts are not loading up on your front page. Have about 5. Thanks to I think Marion who taught me this one, my site speed (for the home page that is) got a lot quicker. It's fixed in settings somewhere, don't ask me where I forget...make sure no more than 5 or 6 are loaded into front page!

TWO

Always ensure you are shrinking your images. Personally I like to use tinypng.com for this before I upload the images to my site. I recommend in addition to this, you can install an image shrinking plugin, one being called ewww, or something like that. I havent actually for it installed on my site right now but I'm going to add it back for good measure.

There's no harm I suppose in choosing just one of these options...

Now these two things apply mainly to your home page, but you can also apply them to any post or page on your website. Imagine if you had a 10 million word blog post and a thousand pictures loading into it? Wow, that would probably load in real slow, right?

On the other hand, imagine you had a 10 word blog post and 1 tiny thumbnail picture. Wow, that's gonna load in real quick ain't it, on any internet connection. Catch my drift?

Now remember...there are a gazillion other things that come into play with a slow site loading speed problem. Many of which are not related to the two things above. As for that, you'll have to ask your questions in the bar top middle as you usually do or in live chat if you think they can help there.

Theme choice is a factor.

How many plugins you are running is another factor.

And a plethora of other things I know nothing of! Don't ask me, you're wearing your keyboard out unnecessarily if you do! LOL

if you're a newbie, maybe you shouldn't. Some of the playings about in that tutorial are dangerous in the hands of a newbie. Rather like giving a toddler a loaded gun to play with in the back seat of your car. No...don't do that...stick to the regular training laid out by Kyle and Jay in their videos.
