Beginning
Hi everyone! I'm just wrapping up Level 2 of the Online Entrepenuer Certification Course and part of the final lesson requires that I write a blog on my progress thus far, so here I go!
During the later part of 2019, I decided that working a desk job from 8:30am to 4:30pm for five days a week, constantly counting down until next payday, only to get paid at the end of the month and have to pay every cent away so that I could obtain the barest of necessities (at times barely enough to keep me until the next cycle), was a total waste of my life and that something had to give.
I'm not sure what snapped, but one day instead of doing the boss's work, I sat at my desk for the entire morning searching for information on how to make money online (sorry boss). Sadly I had no idea that most of us who decide to take this path without proper guidance are like turtle hatchlings on shore making their way to the ocean full of sharks leviathans and god knows what, in that chances of survival are slim.
I ended up investing in one of these schemes (scams) where there was no real good or service and all that I had to do was market the "service" in order to have people join so that I could make a commission. After hustling on social media, I did make some cash (nowhere near the among that I invested), but in the end I felt empty and dishonest, and I eventually gave up on the hustle.
Enter Wealthy Affiliate which I learned about from another member's website. What instantly caught my attention was that there was no promise of getting rich quick by sharing a number or advertising something which did not exist, instead, the offer was simply that I invest some money and time in following a program from which I would learn a legitimate form of marketing which I would then be able to use to my benefit in the long run.
So far, I enjoy the hands on learning and the user-friendliness of the platform, but most of all I am fascinated by the willingness of others to assist. In the past I have done online courses ranging from certificate programs to diploma programs and once even attempted a bachelor's program, none that I recall gave the level of guidance provided here at wealthy affiliate, and all proved far more costly on a monthly basis.
I honestly wish that I had discovered this program a few years earlier Instead of blowing a considerable amount of funds on an accounts course which never delivered my final exam, anyway... I suppose it's better to start the journey now than never.
As part of the course, I have chosen to go with the martial arts niche, and for now I am focused on marketing martial arts training gear. This idea came naturally as Martial Arts have been a passion of mine for a long time. Upon completion of the course I may stick with this and/or try something else, who knows, I have realized that the beauty of Wealthy Affiliate and affiliate marketing in general is that the sky is the limit.
I realize that I have just barely scraped the surface of the program and have not even begun to put in the required amount of work as yet, but that's OK, my adult life has always been an uphill climb, and I have no problem with continuing the climb in order to create a positive future for myself and family.
I am grateful to the founders of Wealthy Affiliate for this opportunity and also very grateful to everyone who has taken time so far to make me feel welcome and responded to my questions no matter how brainless some of them may have seemed.
Even though I have not made a cent so far, I feel a strange sense of accomplishment with every lesson that I complete, as well as hope for the future.
I intend on continuing the climb and wish all the best to those climbing with me.
