Critique me!
Having had several requests for feedback on my progressing website, I find it JOLLY that many find something they like, enjoy,or can relate to. That's all fine, until I come across that one person who is not afraid to offer constructive criticism. I mean, I'm not at all offended with that kind of honesty. I am mature enough to understand that sure, I make mistakes. If I cant recognize all of them,(even the little ones), then I NEED to rely on somebody to point them out to me. Some of my work is fly by the seat of my pants, trying to remember all the minute details of the training. Hey, I'm human. My point is: Sure I can offer feedback also and say good job, good job. But how does that really help? It surely makes it easy to accept the atta boy and think everything is peachy-keen, while at the same time I am actually creating a wreck of a website that wont have much chance of getting a decent rank, if it ranks at all. This little blog here is to promote more HONESTY, with ourselves and with everyone else. Let's not worry about saying what we think people want to hear, or worse yet, omit something we may notice right off and not say anything about it. If it weren't for the blatant honesty of one of my reviewers,(finally), I probably would not be revamping my website as I speak. And, if I miss my guess, there seems to be quite a bit of that going around. AHA, as it should be!! Fine tuning for the future success of our goals should be ongoing, at least until we get it right. I am aware that there are so many parameters to meet, hurdles to jump, and guidelines to follow. Sometimes it seems mind-boggling even to me. I am also keenly aware that there are those of us who have gone before us and mastered the pitfalls we all seem to stumble through. These are the members I gravitate towards in fulfilment of my own personal goals. Thus, I really do appreciate all of the feedback that does not pull the punches, but constructively points out my weaknesses so that I have an understanding of what and how to improve. It can be done with care and compassion, in a way that is not rude, or taken offensively, but with the attitude of helpfulness. It all begins with HONESTY. so, my final thought to share is, "CRITIQUE ME!!!" Jim...

WA in a family trying to pay things forward. Jim, I wish you the best of success here and if you need anything let me know.
Hey Tony, Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'm being misunderstood. It's a blog not a request. Enjoy. Jim...
I actually used to work with an art director, and not a kid who was just starting out, who couldn't handle real constructive criticism at all.
Mom and friends will always atta boy you. We need to be honest with each other here no matter how much it may hurt. It will only help make our sites better.
First off James, you're never going to get any critique in any form as I'm just learning to understand some of this blessed internet jargon, let alone know what to do with the websites my son helped me to set up (half-hearted way, so not much help).
But I've found by reading every blog in my inbox, I get to find out some dos and the No nos. So I sincerely thank you for this blog which also explains some of the niceties I should expect and observe.
God bless you, and keep you...
Shirley

Hey jgau54, alot of your pics on the camo site are blank and you have some html code showing in a paragraph too and some of the pics I do see are too small to see, hopefully it isn't just loading them real slow, camo stuff is popular and has great potential...I might make an eye catching header with your logo too..first impressions are important....I'm just trying to be helpful, keep tweaking it as you get ideas, you'll get there!

Your spot on - a pat on the back and kind words do not give us anything to build on. I will bear this in mind when I start critiquing sites.
