Are Featured Images Necessary?
Hello WA Family!
I was looking into featured images and if and how I would add them. I tried adding one to one of my posts and nothing happened. It didn't show up on my Home page Blog Roll. What did I find out? I am using the Generate Press Theme and it looks like I would have to upgrade to Premium if I want to use this feature.
I don't know very much about featured images or how important they are for your business. So I thought I would ask the community what they thought.
Do you use featured images? Do you think they are necessary? And what if you had to pay to have them?

Hi Israel! Do you have Generate Press and use them for free? Because I read in blog written last year (when I did a search) that you had to upgrade to premium in Generate Press Theme. I forgot to look to see if Generate Press Theme even offers a Premium. Oh, I hope I misunderstood.

I’m on premium, so are you. You should be able to use GP under your premium subscription in WA.
Ok, thanks, Israel. I will look into it. Maybe I forgot to update it after choosing a featured image and that's why it didn't work.

Hey Lynn yes I believe that the featured image will improve your engagement and SEO. After you added the image did you hit update? This tab is higher up in the same column where you add the image.
I do think I hit update, but I can't be positive I remembered lol I can't begin to tell you the amount of time I've wasted in redoing something because I forgot to hit update. There is always editing to do after I publish, and I am getting better at remembering. I will have to try again.
Helping with engagement is what I am going for. I've been here three months and haven't gotten any engagement yet. Or the engagement I've gotten is what I've paid for in credits from WA. I am a bit discouraged, but not giving up.

Hi Lynn, I use featured images in my blog posts because on my website, blogs are a page that leads to my posts. The featured image comes up as an icon along with the subject of the post so that users can see right off what the post is about. The image adds to the attraction I think.
