Struggling with Learning
We all struggle to learn ALL the information presented to us each day. Sometimes it is easy, sometimes not so much.
It does not matter what you are trying to learn if you have no persistence or interest. I might even add that if you do not have an interest or passion for a subject your chances of learning it is quite small.
I know when in secondary school, my teachers would ask us what our life goals were. As a class, we thought she was out of her mind. It did not matter that in just a couple of years we would be on our own facing the BIG BAD WORLD.
We would have to find a means of supporting ourselves with plans that were not well-thought-out. We took if for granted that because we GRADUATED that all would be given us because we said so. Life is not so kind!!!
Planning for the Future
I, personally, thought that if I worked hard then I would be afforded the promotion and salary that came with it. I was wrong. There were plenty of applicants that had a better education than I did and were willing to learn new ways of doing things. I was still LEFT BEHIND for not being willing to do the work outside of my JOB to improve myself.
The opportunities were there for me to take but my pride would not let me do what was needed. I often wonder what my philosophy would be like today. Would I have the TENACITY to try? Would I be willing to say I needed help? What are the chances I would have found a new way to reach my goals?
Goalsetting
I have learned late in life that setting a goal is KEY TO ADVANCING for any endeavor. You may only work on your goal for 30 minutes a day but you are working toward your goal. On the other side of that is the person who has a wish but has no idea how to turn that wish into a goal. It has been my experience that in order to turn a wish into a goal you must TAKE ACTION!!!
Taking action means you or someone else will hold you accountable for reaching that goal. You will be asked what you are doing to make that goal a REALITY. You must be persistent, obsessed or just stubborn enough to make that goal become a NEW REALITY. Hard, Smart work will get you there.
There will be bumps and bruises along the way. That is part of the nature of setting a goal and working toward it. You may even have to start over with a different plan of action to reach that goal. The point is not to give up, keep moving forward or sideways until you reach your goal.
Reaching Your Goal
Reaching your goal in the beginning may seem like there is no way to get there. Persistence will move you toward your goal in spite of all the people and situations that say you will not reach your goal.
You will find the people closest to you are the ones most likely to tell you that your goal is impossible to reach. PLEASE do not listen to them, they have put aside their dreams and feel you should do the same.
Success Yours is For The Taking
Why do I say Success is Yours For the Taking? Only you can determine what YOUR SUCCESS looks like. Only you can determine how to measure your success. It does not matter to me what you call success as long as you move toward your goal.
I have been at Wealthy Affiliate for 4 1/2 years and some would say that I am a success because I respond to numerous blogs. In some ways that is true, but I have not completed the OEC yet.
I can say that there have been disappointments in my time here and that would be true. I had almost 1 1/2 years when I could not type or even feed myself. I could use that as a reason for not being successful in the eyes of many. I, however, don't accept that.
I discovered a few months back that I was not working toward any of my goals. I was very frustrated at the time. I took a long hard look at what I was doing and what I was not doing. There was a post by Cassi. A true friend to many, she is a lady with many wise words. The words she posted resonated with me in a profound was "IF WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS NOT WORKING THEN CHANGE YOUR SCRIPT." I believe I got the quote right or close anyway.
The point of her advice is when things aren't going the way they should STOP, STEP BACK, EVALUATE AND THEN CHANGE. I took that advice she gave all of us to hear. I changed my script.
In the last three months, I went from being ranked at 0 to working toward being ranked in my mind. Having a rank in mind is just as important as in Google, Bing, or Yahoo. I say this because once you believe then you can succeed. I have seen this in more than one post and more than one book.
Understanding yourself with all of your strengths and flaws if done honestly can be a great motivator to change.
I see myself as successful because of the support I receive daily from Wealthy Affiliate.
In Closing
In closing, I would like to say to one and all that when you follow the training and classes at Wealthy Affiliate you have taken the first of many steps toward SUCCESS. Don't stop learning!!! There are many ways to learn, find the one that works best for you. The classes do work and are worth reviewing repeatedly.

I was blessed when we were made to write 2 career papers in 8th grade.
Teaching and psychiatry were my choices. Seeds were planted.
My career was a blend of both.
If money is a goal, only, we can sell ourselves short.
Remember the WHY I chose this avenue, helps when we get the sluggish times.

Knowing the why is important in whatever endeavor we undertake. If the why is not important to us then it will fade from our minds as quickly as it came up. You have to stay focused on your why as well as your goal.

I, too, underwent that change after self reflection some months ago.
I wasn't happy with where I was going and what I was doing.
It is so positively different today for me.
I can clearly see my vision and I'm diligently working towards achieving my continued success

I had to take a look at myself during the Black Friday event. I needed to know that I was making the right choice for my family and for myself. It came down to me feeling sorry for myself because I had open heart surgery(time away), followed by Guillian Burre Syndrome(even longer time away).
I had to relearn most basics which took a long time to relearn. I am most of the way back from those two traumatic events. In February of 2021 I was diagnosed being legally blind due to cataracts(more time away). I had cataract surgery and have recovered my sight but now I am having to play catchup from all my time away.
I needed to decide whether this was a way for me to reach my goals. I am just stubborn enough to make it happen. I have spent the better part of two years recovering and rehabilitating. I WILL NOT LET ANYTHING STOP ME FROM REACHING MY GOALS AND DREAMS.

I will do the same thing, as there are several modifications that I am making in all facets of my life right now, and if I never get there, then at least I have had GREAT fun trying!

Awesome post, Jerry! Facing the 'Big Bad World' had no meaning at a young age. Parents made everything look easy and protected form the struggles of life.
It's not until we have to pay our own way that the realizations of life hit us like a ton of bricks.
Persistence and tenacity will help you conquer almost anything.

The big bad world stops most people from even dreaming of a better way of life. I am persistent in finding my way to the life I want. It may take me some time to be there but I will make it.

Yes, Barb! Absolutely the correct thought. However, that force is a double edged sword. In my opinion, we sometimes need to force ourselves to change.
A'force' that I welcome since I am sometimes prone to deviating from the program.

I sometimes think that those of us who have been here longer know less about what we have here at Wealthy Affiliate than the newcomers.
Repeating the lessons, taking time for the new ones that come out. We cheat ourselves when we don't.

I have had to retake the classes because of various factors. The latest being that I am having trouble with Google Analytics. I have not been able to get help so I am going through the classes again. On a more positive note, I have posted 9 articles recently and 8 of them are on Page 1 of Bing and Yahoo. I am making progress just not on Google.
I am sure that once I get Google setup correctly then this will change.

I am also having issues with Goggle Analytics. Over half of my posts don't show.
Have a few posts scheduled ahead. I will get a few more ahead, then take time and go through the whole training again. 2nd time already with this go around. Next will be the 3rd.
