From Nurse to Blogger: How I Found My True Calling
Let me start by asking you a question: have you ever felt like you're stuck in a career that doesn't satisfy your soul? That was me a few years back. I was a nurse working in mental health, and while I enjoyed helping people, I reached my burnout point. And then CoVid came along, and that was it for me. I needed to find a way to fulfill my purpose without sacrificing my mental health.
Now, I know some of you might be thinking, "Jen, what do you know about making money online?" Well, I have ADHD, which means I get easily distracted, so naturally, I became an expert at navigating the web. And with a little bit of research, I discovered the world of blogging.
But let's be real here, blogging is not all sunshine and rainbows. You have to put in the work, the research, and the creativity. I mean, I'm a parent of three, including two teens, so I have to keep things interesting. And then there's my food truck, Hooked On Food, which my husband Tito and I own. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the idea of having a food truck, but I hate cooking. Can you imagine? Thankfully, Tito is a chef, so he's got that part covered.
So, with all that going on in my life, why blogging? Well, it's simple. Blogging allows me to share my thoughts and experiences with people all over the world. It's like having a virtual support system. And with my ulcerative colitis, which no treatment has helped so far, I need all the support I can get.
Plus, I get to be my own boss, work from home, and spend more time with my two pit bulls, Dante and Penny, and my dachshund, Harley. I mean, who wouldn't want that?
In conclusion, I want to encourage all of you who are feeling lost in your careers to explore your options. Life is too short to be unhappy.

Thanks for sharing a bit more about yourself Jennyse!
I'm just wondering what type of food your food truck specialises in??
All the very best for the future my friend!
My question is are you seeing income just from blogging? And if so, are you writing blogs for affiliates. This part has me confused!
Hey there!
I totally get where you're coming from with the confusion about my blog and affiliate marketing. Let me clarify a bit.
When I first started blogging, it was purely for personal reasons - a way to vent my feelings and connect with others who may be going through the same thing. I didn't think about monetizing it at all. So, I decided to create a site where I could add affiliate links and see what happens. Will I make a bajillion dollars? Who knows, but I'm giving it a shot.
To answer your question, no, I'm not seeing income just from blogging yet. But who knows, maybe one day I will. In the meantime, I'll keep writing and sharing my thoughts with whoever wants to read them.
Thanks for asking!

WThis is why I joined WA. The J-O-B is not just becoming a drag. There are a lot of things going on that is bringing my spirits down. I have been denied time off and working 54 hour weeks due to a recent down size. The morale is poor and the pressures are high. I will be 62 years soon. Early retirement is my goal. But I need to prepare for it. I don't have a nest egg prepared for myself. I want to build a wealth to share with my two sons and 2 grandchildren. I am dreaming big. And, I am willing to work hard towards my dreams that I am confident will pay off!
Cheers to success!
