Hey ya'll, what's up with you? I am here to talk a little about something we all do at some point in our lives. That's right, cooking. I am a cooker, have been since I was about 13 or so. My first made by myself recipe was Potato Cheese Soup.

I love to invent as I cook more than follow a recipe. I use recipes for ideas and baking. Most of my stuff comes from what I have on hand and what sounds good out of that. From there, it is a matter of throwing a bunch of stuff in a pan or pot till i have the taste i like.

So a recipe is born. Like this one, pictured here. Homemade chili with ground pork & homemade green tomato sauce. Other than that, it is a basic chili recipe. Peppers, onions, tomatoes, salt, pepper, cumin, garlic and cayenne. Served with hot cornbread, Fritos and sour cream. So good it makes Wendy's jealous.

For more recipes, tips, and tricks I have learned, please check back weekly.

Sounds like a fantastic dish Jen!

The best way to cook is to experiment, ... find what tastes great and go from there my friend! :-)

I fully agree. I won't do that baking but then baking isn't my thing. Unless it comes out of a box or a recipe, I don't touch it. But anything else, I just go with my gut, then my taste buds.

That's the way to do it my friend!

That’s awesome that you can create your own variations on recipes and make them your own, your chili looks good! Keep in cooking.

Hi there, Jen. I do as you do, use a recipe to get ideas, use what I have on hand, and often find a great new combination. I do have trouble getting my new creation's recipe down on paper. Sometimes I taste my way through the entire process to the end product. All good. All fun. Thanks for the post-- a little blast from my past.

I am the same way, I do it once. Then I can never quite duplicate it. But it's so hard to cook, create & write as you go. lol
