Even if I categorise each post, my Categories widget will not display them? Do I have to link something?

are you using the block category widget or the classic one...

Not too sure, still newbie and not quite familiar with all the terms..

when you goto appearance>>widgets you now goto the block widgets...
if there is a category widget there then click on it and in the right sidebar it may say legacy widget - which means it is the old one and needs replacing...
click on the three dots and hten remove .....
click on the + at the top left and type in category and you should find the category widget....
you will also need to add a heading above it by clicking hte + and typing heading...select the heading...
if it is now below the other widget ten on the menu you will see arrows up/down ...click up and it will go up one...
and then click on save and it should work...

Thanks my friend. So it appears I have the block one. It is positioned where I want on my page but my posts won't get "under" the categories. They don't add in the widget... That's my real issue

the category widget will only display the categories....
if you want to display the posts you have the latest posts widget or the query loop...this you can customize on what is shown....

thanks I finally got a hang of it!

it will display the categories however you need to add them to a created menu first.

Appearance > Menus.

Then assign your posts to their respective categories.

Thanks a lot, I finally managed. All I had to do was to take more time and apply myself to do what you guys all told me :-)

You may need to empty the browser cache, refresh and try again. Try URL in a different browser or mobile device.

You can also empty servers cache.
Websites > Site Manager > Details > Sitespeed > Empty site cache

That's after you have created them - Categories section hovering over posts.

I keep getting this notice for my site:

Your site is running an outdated version of PHP (7.3.9), which requires an update

I did the backup and the compatibilit

Most welcome!

php is the programming language most commonly used for website functions. Using an old version doesn't usually cause problems, but some plugins will give you this warning message. Let Site Support know and they'll move your site to another server running the current php version.

Done, thanks a lot!

If you're hosted at WA, contact Site Support. They'll take care of it for you.

that simple? ok thanks!

Totally, kindly let us know how you get on.
