Lost and Found
I recently migrated from an old version of Joomla! to the latest and it was a tragedy. I could not fix the database and it wreck havoc on my site because I lost my articles from 2012 until half of this year. It was a difficult decision to do because I migrated to a new host that promised me to speed up my site and while it did happen, my site's content was lost.
In other words, my only solution is to load them to the database one by one. It was hard work but after 1 month I think that I have done my best. One good thing about it, I made quality audit for all the articles before I posted them, and made use of redirects (for the URL) and configure the Disqus comments to point them to the right articles. I love the challenge and yes, it would be a long time before I can return my site's ranking at Google, Alexa and elsewhere.
The most important thing I guess is that - Quality work matters and that if people like your site, they will return.
My site belongs to a very competitive niche - anime. But that does not discourage me to do my best. I know that I can offer more than what my competitors can. I'm confident that in 6 months time or less, I will get my lost traffic again.
All things happen for a reason. It's a matter of adjustments and making sure that lessons are learned.
