How to Do Blog Commenting Properly?

While blog commenting is significant for building relationships, building brands, and building followership, a lot of people still do it wrongly, thus, making it seem ineffective.

Many bloggers now believe that blog comments aren’t significant for SEO because they are no longer followed by search engines like before. Is it so? And should you continue accepting comments on your own blog? Is it helpful for improving SEO in any way?

Let’s consider the following subheadings:

  • How should you offer comments to blogs?
  • How do you offer relevant comments?
  • What should the length of an ideal blog comment be?
  • How do blog comments help to build blogging buddies?
  • What’s the SEO benefit of commenting on blogs?

How Should You Offer Comments to Blogs?

Times without number, you have got some comments that are irrelevant to the content of your blog post, and you disapproved of them right away. You have also likely come across similar comments while commenting on some external blogs, and you felt frustrated.

How should you write a quality comment?

A quality comment must:

  • Be 100% relevant to the content.
  • Be attention-grabbing, authentic, and helpful.
  • Contribute to the length of the post one way or the other
  • Add value to the content.

How Do You Offer Relevant Comments?

To make blog comments work for relationship building, relevance is a key factor. Also, consistency will go a long way in building strong bonds with other bloggers in your industry.

To ensure your comments are relevant to the content of any blog, you must:

  • Read the content properly.
  • Flesh out relevant points across the content
  • Type your comment in two or three paragraphs
  • Avoid plagiarism of phrases or lines of text in the original content.

What Should the Length of An Ideal Blog Comment Be?

If you want to offer an ideal comment to any blog, you must keep in mind to write 50-150 words at a minimum.

Avoid single-line comments such as “Great read,” “Nice post,” or “Interesting read.” No blog owner will ever want to approve such comments to appear on their sites. So keep in mind to consider quality over quantity.

How Do Blog Comments Help to Build Blogging Buddies?

Blog comments help build blogging buddies. It’s as powerful as publishing guest posts for building brand recognition, visibility, and awareness.

But how should you make commenting on blogs work for building blogging buddies?

  • Comment actively on blogs
  • Write relevant, authentic, and high-quality comments.
  • Add value to the blog.
  • Leave only your homepage URL while commenting.
  • Be genuine and unique.

What’s the SEO Benefit of Blog Comments?

Although blog comments aren’t followed by search engines anymore, they are still helpful for improving your website in many ways.

  • When you comment on blogs, you earn brand recognition and referral traffic to your site.
  • When you begin to earn referral traffic constantly, you will improve your bounce rate.
  • When you start improving the bounce rate, you’ll win Google’s trust.

My Conclusion

Blog comments can help in building your Trust Rank. It’s a good way to earn much traffic to your site and keep your bounce rate improved on a consistent basis.

I hope this will help every one of us and I’m sure we are all benefiting from it.

Thank you so much for reading my blog for today.

I WISH YOU HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY EVERYONE!

I LOVE YOU ALL!

Thanks,

Joyce

Thank you for this post. I hope that everyone within WA would be able to read it. A year ago I received a comment that was overly lengthy maybe about 600 words. The comment has criticisms and citing what should be in my blog based on his profession. At that time I was new and didn’t know if I can just delete it. Eventually, I realized I can delete the comment and I did. Again, 2nd qtr of 2020 he gave a comment again on one of my new articles and as usual gave a suggestion that I did not feel comfortable about. I disapproved the comment right away and provided a valid reason to reject.

Your post is a good guidance to those who are just learning to give comments and need to review comments before posting. Comments should be positive and making sure that the sound of the message will benefit the website receiving it.

Thank you. Good post!

Evelyn

Hi, Evelyn.

I'm glad to see you here. And thank you for sharing your own experience that you receiving irrelevant comments too, to your site. Which is not helping for our business.
Yes you're right, we can do disapproved but need to explain our reasons. Thank you for your comment and support.

Best wishes to you always,

Joyce

Hi Evelyn
There is the potential for an interesting debate here, but I will try to stay under the 600-word limit. :-)
Critical comments are not necessarily bad for a site if they are genuine and offered in a constructive way and much depends on how you deal with them. I would say there is a danger of only having overly positive comments that agree 100% with whatever your site is saying as that is just constructing an echo chamber and can be read as insincere.
If there are real divergences of expert opinion on a subject then it would likely be damaging to the authority of your site (I don't necessarily mean Google authority) if you ignore them and favor only one side of that argument. Maybe much depends on the niche or maybe not. I think we should assume that our audience if they are interested in the subject matter will discover all sides of an argument sooner or later so if your site can present them with a holistic picture then that can only be good for your site.
My 2 cents
Best regards
Andy
PS Chuck if you're reading this - mine's a cappuccino.

Thank you for your comment, Andy. Unfortunately, the comments were not constructive at all. It was more like a lecture based on his field of education and the tone of the comments had a very bad effect on me. It was more like bashing or intimidation. You would think that he would pm me to give me the lecture privately but he didn’t. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you his profession. My point in giving comments on this post is to send a message, if there is anyone else or if he is reading this, please think very well before commenting on a post. Fortunately, I haven’t encountered anyone since then.

Evelyn

You’re welcome Joyce! My first thought was that bad comments I got on my post. I haven’t forgotten!

Evelyn

Hi Evelyn
Clearly, it was not a pleasant or constructive experience. I am very sorry about that. I know for myself these experiences can live with us for a long time especially when we feel a sense of injustice.
I am glad that you have not had any repeat experiences since that time.
Kind regards
Andy

Hi, Evelyn,
Thank you so much for sharing those experiences you had a while ago. And I hope that is finished. Let's move on.

My real problems were different; lately, I received a comment on my site that really irrelevant to the topic/article. And this coming from one person only, five comments, almost the same wording; it's like a copy-paste system to five different articles on my site.
I can't be corrected it and accept. I took a screenshot and disapproved of them right away. (The comment was not bad, no critic, only not relevant to the topic.) It's the first time to encounter this since I started commenting and request comment.

I decided to write a blog about how to do commenting properly, as I wish to receive the right one and relevant comment to the articles that I'm going to request next.

That's all my simple request.

Thank you, Evelyn.
Let's move on.....

Best wishes to you always,

Joyce

Thank you so much, Andy, for sharing your own experience here with my post. I appreciate it much.

All the best,
Joyce

Yes we should move forward. Two weeks ago I received a PM from someone requesting a comment on his vlog. I have not done it or responded as I have been very busy. He offered he will do the same on my website. I think you can pm someone and request a post comment, offer your comment in return. Give your website. Not sure if it is a good practice but maybe WAers will let us know. I am curious to know.

Evelyn

Wow! Evelyn, that's new.
Thank you for sharing.
We are going to consult if that safe to do. Maybe yes, and maybe not. Will see. Keep in touch, my friend, and again, thank you so much. I wish you success in your business too.

Much Love,
Joyce

My pleasure Joyce. I hope we will get a feedback from the community whether we can use that mode of requesting blog comments.

I wish you success in your business as well.

Be safe and stay well,
Evelyn

Thank you so much, Evelyn.
Yes, to our success!
See you around the WA community.
All the best,
Joyce

Bill

Thank you so much, Bill,
For your great encouragement and feedback.
I did that to help everyone to understand how important the comment to everyone's sites.
Thank you so much,

Joyce

Hey Joyce
Comments are key to demonstrating to visitors that you have engaging content. It is necessary to push for this through asking those persons close to you or in groups you are affiliated with to comment.
Hugh

Hello Hugh,
Thank you for your contribution and feedback about this post.

Yes, Hugh. It is important as we are affiliate marketers and expected visitors to our site.

When visitors are browsing the articles that get their interest, they will reach down until the comments.

If they've seen relevant comments on your website, it's really adding great value to the site.

Best wishes.

Thanks
Joyce

Very true Joyce

Thank you, Hugh.
Joyce;-)
