The 10 Strangest Niches That Actually Make Money
I thought I’d seen it all—until I came across a couch that gets vacuum-sealed into a tube. Seriously, I saw a video on LinkedIn the other day where what looked like a perfectly normal, sturdy couch was shoved under a machine that flattened it like a pancake and then rolled it up like a burrito. Apparently, this is a thing now—just like beds-in-a-box, except this time it’s your entire living room set. 🤯
It got me thinking—people will buy anything if it’s marketed right.
We’ve seen this time and time again. Whether it’s bottled fresh mountain air, furniture that morphs into six different things, or even “emotional support chicken nuggets” (yes, that’s real)—there’s a niche for everything.
And guess what? People aren’t just buying these things. They’re making BANK selling them.
So, if you’ve been struggling to pick a niche because you’re afraid it’s “too weird,” let’s talk about 10 strange but wildly profitable niche ideas that prove there’s a market for everything.
1. Roll-Up Sofas & Space-Saving Furniture
(Yes, the couch burrito trend is real.)
People love compact living. From folding desks that hide inside couches to coffee tables that magically expand and contract with a twist, space-saving furniture is blowing up. If you’re into home improvement or lifestyle design, this is a crazy profitable niche.
👉 Affiliate Angle: Promote modern furniture brands or work with manufacturers offering dropshipping options.
2. Emotional Support Nuggets (or… Any Other Comfort Object)
Turns out, people love fake emotional support items—as long as it makes them laugh.
From “emotional support chicken nuggets” (a plush toy that went viral) to “support potatoes,” people buy these for fun, gifts, or just for the meme.
👉 Affiliate Angle: If humor-based products are your thing, look at novelty stores, custom print shops, and trending Etsy creators for affiliate opportunities.
3. Personal Air Purifiers (Because Breathing is a Luxury Now?)
We’ve seen companies selling bottled Canadian air before, but now there’s a surge in personal air purifiers—small devices that clip onto shirts and supposedly clean the air around you.
If you think this sounds wild, you’re not alone. I actually covered this kind of "unconventional marketing genius" in my blog post here: Unconventional Marketing Tactics: The Weirdest Ways People Have Made Money Online—where I break down just how ridiculous (yet successful) some of these niche businesses have been.
👉 Affiliate Angle: Tech review bloggers and gadget lovers—this is a goldmine for Amazon and health-related affiliate programs.
4. Luxurious Pet Accessories
We all know someone who treats their dog better than most humans.
From dog treadmills to gold-plated litter boxes, high-end pet products are a multi-billion-dollar industry. If you’re in the pet niche, you don’t need to sell kibble—sell ridiculous pet luxury instead.
👉 Affiliate Angle: Work with high-end pet brands or custom creators on Etsy selling handmade dog furniture.
5. ASMR Microphones (Because Whispering Pays Well)
ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) is massive right now, and so is the gear that comes with it.
People are buying specialized ASMR microphones that pick up every little sound—from whispering to soft tapping. These aren’t just gimmicks; some of these mics cost hundreds of dollars, and influencers swear by them.
👉 Affiliate Angle: Audio gear, content creator tools, and YouTube sponsorships are prime opportunities here.
6. Fake Window Views (For People Who Hate Their Real One)
Not everyone has a beachfront view—but that’s where fake LED window screens come in.
These devices create a digital sunrise, a scenic lake view, or even outer space—right from your boring apartment. Perfect for tiny home dwellers or people living in basement units who want “a view.”
👉 Affiliate Angle: Promote smart home gadgets and home decor tech.
7. Reversible Plushies (The Mood Indicator Trend)
A stuffed octopus that flips between happy and angry? Why not.
These mood plushies exploded in popularity, thanks to TikTok and social media trends. Now, there’s a plush version of almost anything that “flips” moods.
👉 Affiliate Angle: Sell through toy stores, Amazon affiliates, or even create custom plushies yourself.
8. Tactical Baby Gear (Because Fatherhood Can Be Hardcore)
Yes, there’s an entire niche dedicated to "tactical" baby gear—military-style diaper bags, baby carriers, and strollers.
It’s for dads who want to feel like Navy SEALs while carrying baby wipes. And let’s be real—there’s a market for it.
👉 Affiliate Angle: Partner with niche parenting brands and e-commerce platforms selling “tough” baby gear.
9. Mystery Box Subscriptions
People love surprises. Whether it’s Japanese snacks, haunted objects, or obscure vinyl records, subscription boxes remain a massive industry.
👉 Affiliate Angle: Work with brands like CrateJoy, Loot Crate, and regional mystery box companies.
10. “Plant Parenting” Accessories
If you think dog parents go hard, plant parents might be worse.
There are now “plant diaries,” self-watering gadgets, and even luxury plant pots that cost more than my first car.
👉 Affiliate Angle: Home & garden brands, Amazon affiliates, and influencer collaborations.
Final Thoughts: Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from watching bizarre business trends, it’s this:
💡 ANY niche can make money if you market it right.
People love strange, unique, and niche products. Whether it’s a sofa that rolls into a burrito or dog houses more expensive than your rent, there’s always an audience willing to pay for something they’ve never seen before.
So if you’ve been afraid to choose a niche because it seems “too weird,” you’re probably sitting on gold.
👉 Would you ever promote a strange niche? What’s the weirdest product you’ve ever seen that actually sells? Let’s hear it!

Great weird ideas here, Jeremy. I really like the mystery box subscriptions and fake window views for gift items.
Maxine :)
Jeremy,
absolutely brilliant and crazy🤣, is it best to test drive these first...? Asking for a friend... What a great thought provoking article though.
Thanks again
Peter
Some great ideas here, Jeremy. My daughters have several mood-octopi (is that right?) She often puts them outside her door so we know how to react. The problem comes when she has one happy and two angry!! That's a minefield!
Also, when I joined, Kyle was promoting an American football helmet that was a food snack container... or something like that.
As a Brit, I thought that was a bit weird (no offense, Kyle) but it seemed to have worked for him.
