Secrets People in WA Don’t Share. But I Wish They Would

There’s a weird thing that happens inside Wealthy Affiliate.

Everyone’s kind. Supportive. Motivating. You’ll find encouragement, community, and a sea of "Welcome to WA!" messages that make you feel like you're about to climb the income mountain with Gandalf and Tony Robbins holding your hand.

But then something happens...

You start asking the deeper questions.

The kind that usually come with a sigh, a wall, or complete silence.

And that’s when you realize:

There are secrets here. And they don’t get shared nearly enough.

Let’s talk about that.

1. The First Secret: “I don’t know what I’m doing either.”

You’ll never hear someone say it out loud. But it’s true.

So many of us — especially in the first 6 months — are winging it, second-guessing everything, and pretending to be more confident than we are. Some people mask that insecurity with flashy dashboards or big ideas.

Others stay quiet and disappear completely.

If more of us just said, "Hey, I’m overwhelmed," we’d probably all grow faster.

And if you’re the one thinking that right now? You’re not broken.

You’re just new.

2. The Second Secret: “Yes, I use AI. No, I’m not ashamed.”

There’s this strange AI stigma floating around the platform.

On one hand, we’re told to write authentically, to use our own voice, to avoid sounding robotic. On the other hand? WA’s got its own AI tool baked right into the platform — and everyone's using it.

So let’s stop pretending we’re handcrafting every sentence by candlelight with a fountain pen.

AI is here. It’s a tool. And it’s only as good as the human behind it.

The real trick is making it yours.

3. The Third Secret: “Your first few posts probably won’t rank. At all.”

This is one no one really likes to admit — because it’s discouraging. But it’s important.

SEO isn’t a light switch. You don’t press "publish" and watch your post soar to the top of Google by Tuesday.

I had posts sit flatline dead for six months before they got a sniff of traffic. But once they started climbing?

Game on.

Your content needs time. Patience is a marketing strategy.

And if you’re quitting because article #3 didn’t get clicks, you’re playing the wrong game.

4. The Fourth Secret: “Some people are making money here. They just don’t talk about it.”

Let’s be real.

We’ve got members pulling in four-figures a month… five-figures a month… maybe more.

But many don’t talk about it. Some are too modest. Others don’t want to feel like they’re bragging. And a few? Honestly, they just don’t want you copying their blueprint.

Can’t blame them.

But that means if you’re new and wondering “is anyone even making money with this?” — the answer is yes.

You’re just not seeing the whole picture.

5. The Fifth Secret: “WA is a platform. It’s not a miracle.”

Look — I love this place. You won’t find a better community of people committed to learning the ropes.

But it’s still just a platform.

It gives you tools. Training. Mentorship. Connections. It’s the gym.

You still have to show up and lift the damn weights.

If you’re waiting for Kyle or Carson to knock on your door and hand you a six-figure check, I hope you’re good at waiting. Like, airline tarmac at 3AM good.

Final Thoughts: Transparency is the New Strategy

I didn’t write this to call anyone out.

I wrote this because I wish someone had told me these things sooner.

I’ve wasted time chasing perfect formatting. I’ve overthought SEO. I’ve held back ideas out of fear that “maybe it’s not good enough.”

And through it all, I’ve watched people — good people — leave WA not because the platform failed them, but because no one gave them the full picture.

So here it is.

The full picture. Unfiltered.

Let’s start being more real with each other.

Because sometimes, the most valuable tip isn’t a training module...

It’s the truth.

Now that's what I wanna hear! It's what we want to talk about! The real deal. But wait, hold on! By the time the real deal is being talked about, there's new information on the back burner! Holy Shiscabobs! Slow down. We may just be trying to move too fast! Yep

Great post Jeremy. Sometimes I feel like the kid in the back of the classroom, scratching my head and deep in thought trying to connect all the dots. 🤔 Indeed, we all learn by different methods and speeds.

There’s the pro AI-assisted camp and the anti-everything AI camp. Guess the main thing is to not regurgitate info that’s already out there.

One thing I will say that we could do better here is to have more “honest” feedback for our sites. The Site Feedback section in WA is not too helpful to be honest. Ex. My site has been up for 14 months and I’ve never heard anyone say, “your site doesn’t look professional, it looks like a school project.” Not just here but from my original “mentor,” to many other entrepreneurs around the globe.

I think it would be helpful. Then again, maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be. Self evaluation and me picking up hints along the way has probably taken me longer but it is what it is. Either way, I’ve finally come to understand that our website design IS a big ranking factor, especially when it comes to credibility.

Great feedback.

Another secret. Nobody does what you do. Doesn’t matter if I give you my blueprint. It won’t work for you.

You won’t invest time like I do
You won’t invest extra money like I do
And you won’t think about each post like I do

And i won’t do any of that in 12 months like I do now

If the people who are making 4-5 figures a month told people how much they spend (or spent) to do that no one would join… but it’s not relevant to someone starting out

Great post Jeremy, seriously appreciate this one. Solid work.

I’m coming up on my one year mark here and that’s honestly why I post so much. I try to share the full journey, not just the wins but the messy middle too. The part no one really talks about.

I keep things transparent. The only thing I hold back is my brand name out of respect for the platform.

And yeah, I couldn’t agree more. People have to put in the work to make this happen. But I’ve also learned that everyone moves at their own pace. Some catch on fast, some take longer, and that’s totally fine.

I’ve been following your stuff for a while now and I really respect the honesty you bring to it. This post is no different.

When I first started I felt stuck, like I was spinning my wheels for months. But by month six I started earning a little every month. Still not enough to pay the bills yet, but I built it from scratch. Books, content, even some Amazon sales I never got paid for. Long story, we’ll save that for another day.

The way I see it, failure doesn’t beat you. Waiting around does.

Thanks again for sharing this Jeremy. More people need to hear it.

Shawn

Thx Shawn

Totally! It could have been worse. I'm only here on WA because there is real value. With AI and everyone hyping up what they're promoting. It's our own authenticity and relationship building that is really gonna make the difference. In this online world it seems like everyone is so cautious. I'm dying to make connections, just like how it was in the AOL days LOL.

Brilliant!
