Authoring & Writing Content

My website is up,

Not bad for just starting yesterday BTW. What is the name of your theme I like it

Heiro. And thanks so much for the look. You are right of course, the empty content pages are painful. It was just the only way I could make it work in my head. Don't really think to many people are going to see it though LOL. not until I move my Blog to the top and craft in some keywords. Right now just need to get the content out of my head. Was any of the content too long winded? I am trying to hit 650 of 700 words per, but I could only get the last one down to 1000.

I see you are off to a good start and you have a lot of good ideas your excitement shows but I think that you really shouldn't post a page without some content on it. When I was flipping through I noticed you had several of them. Some of them looked like basic outlines and I saw you put the disclaimer in there about pages with nothing on them . The cart before the horse I think. I am by no means an expert but those are the things that stood out to me. This isn't a race.By all means write fast and furiously but make sure the content is good If it is an outline leave it draft form until it is ready to publish. (which I thought the homepage was pretty good and the articles you have written.I was really excited to see all those pages you had but I was disappointed when there was nothing to read (I like camping too) I did much camping all over europe with my family as a small child. Just my humble opinion

I never like to say things that may change what others are doing unless I know that the WA lessons or I found out the hard way. --I would ask Kyle or Carson to look at it.

I like some things and others I am not sure, one thing I think you mat have to many pages for now but only time will tell. T I like the content and pic,

The back header is not for me but then maybe it is night ? The red drop downs was hard to read from my end.

You have made a great start and that is great. I found a teaching here by kale about going back and making his pages and post better way after they had been published. and that helped me a lot.

End the end if it get visitors and they buy from you then it is working for your niche. Who knows your niche is a good one in my eyes and maybe the black and red could work --maybe using those colors some here and there, ---hope I caused you to think in a positive way --

Thanks for the look. Not sure about the theme myself. figured I would just write out the content and could always change the theme later. My Girlfriend doesn't like it either, she wants a picture up there, I just haven't figured out how to pull it off. Thanks again.

@croninweb Did I mention it was only MY OPINION? I am sure others would have a different opinion You know, Just like you did

Hey, your opinion is as important as anyone else's! And I appreciate it. Cheers!

@JDE Thanks guy

I have pics and images I want in specific places on some of my pages. how do I do that in wordpress

In wordpress when you add your media there are some options that you can use to position the images in different places.

For example you can align LEFT / RIGHT / CENTER

Upload your image, then "insert into post". After you've done this you will see the image in your content. From here, hover over the image with your mouse and you will see TWO boxes. One that looks like an image, and one that looks like a "Delete" button. Click the "Image" looking icon and you will see the Advanced options for your image. It looks like this:

Image Edit Button: http://d.pr/i/wRoZ

Image Options: http://d.pr/i/PpoG

Hope this helps,

Carson

all thru my site I have been asking for comments, where do folks do that?

ok, found it. they go to "About me". I added text directing my readers to do that to post comments. How do I hypertext that so they can just click on it as they read it.

They can leave you a comment below your About Me Page - just make sure you have it activated - I explained that for you in my other reply.

And you can't have a link unless you had a link to each individual page and post which is not realistic. Just make sure in each of your post or pages you tell people to leave questions or comments below said post or page.

Thanks a bunch Leo. Got it figured out and fixed. You are what I love about the community.

Hey Leo, thought I had it right. any chance you could head over to http://campingfundamentals.com/ ? and tell me whats going on? I just want the article under home to come up right away. I had originally put it there as a post but really just want it as my Home page. As it is now the page loads with nothing found, then you click Home on the menu and you get my article. Seem to be chasing my tail on this. LOL

No worries - you're welcome

If you want this article as your hone page then you need to set this page (article) as a static page - I did a training video about doing just that: Here you go https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/creating-a-static-blog-page

Thanks huge Leo. You are a smarty pants!. I also read your comments about how static home pages will hurt content rankings and will take it to heart. Once I finish writing out all the initial content I will bend myself toward driving the site up in rankings. The video was outstanding, and you are the bomb! Thanks soooo much for the timely assist.

You're very welcome, glad I could help

First make sure you have discussions activated for your post(s), - visitors then can place a comment below your post or page. Here's screen shot: http://d.pr/i/NBlr

If that is not visible you can activate it to be visible by adjusting your Screen Options you will see that tab at the top right of your post page here's a screen shot: http://d.pr/i/DIic

You will need to approve each comment - you want to do this so you do not get spammed (which you will)

Hope that helps
Leo
