I've decided to write an ebook

I recently had a great idea to write and publish an ebook. I have all the plans in place for the content, structure etc, I just need to sit down in write it.
My question is this though - Once it is published, what would be the best way to market it? should I add it to my current site (subject matter is related) and sell directly from there? or create a new site to promote and market it?
Any advice from the WA community on this matter would be much appreciated.

Ebooks are not my strongest side, I usually write smaller stuff for free download, but I know there are tons of information out there on the best way to monetize your book.
