Including Webcam in Video

I finished phase 4 of the bootcamp today. The last lesson had us use a tool to create our own videos.

Kyle provided a couple paid and free options to choose from, and I chose screen-o-matic as he mentioned in the lesson that it provided the capability to upload videos straight to youtube, which I like.

When starting a recording on screen-o-matic, you have the choice for it to record either whatever is showing on your computer screen or your webcam or both.

I made two practice videos using the 'both' option. This puts a little webcam image in the bottom right corner and the rest of your recording is whatever is showing on your computer screen.

I'm not sure if I like this or not. On one hand, I feel like being able to see my facial expressions will help make me more relatable and could be more engaging.

On the other hand, I noticed I have a really annoying habit of looking up when I'm thinking and fairly often I did it so quickly it looked as if I was rolling my eyes.

So, do I remove the webcam option? Or do I keep it and just make sure I'm more prepared and more practiced so as to not have any annoying habits on screen?

I'm leaning towards option two, but I've watched a number of great videos by Kyle, none of which he's in, so I wonder if that's the better way to go.

I would appreciate your opinions!

Mike said to include the Web cam. I am going to try it that way for now and see what happens. Once I get more viewers on YouTube I may try both and see which is rated better.

I did post one with me in it but it did feel very un comfortable putting that out into the world.
I'm sure it'll get easier with time ! :)

Showing your screen is for using power point presentations when you're making a training video---I've used it because I promote my webinars with videos

Since this is for my boot camp course, they will mostly be videos of product walk throughs or training so the screen is definitely needed. It's including the Web cam of me that I'm not sure is good or bad.

I'm not far from starting boot camp. Thanks, Jessica

Thank you!

You can always practice in a mirror so you see beforehand what you can watch out for with your expressions.
Good luck to your success!

Thank you! The play back option is definitely really helpful in picking it up as well.
I kind of winged both videos, and trying to think up what I was discussing while I said it and navigated web pages was definitely very hard.
I think with more preparation I would come across a lot better.

Do you make videos? Rely on others videos? Or completely exclude them?

I haven't started using videos yet but I plan to. Not sure I will record myself .
