Thoughts from a time long ago
This trip reminds me of the study I'm doing at the moment, disasters & accomplishments.
Many years ago, in the 1960's, we made a mammoth trip from Kalgoorlie to Adelaide, a distance of 2,100 kms, give or take. This trip was made when the 'road' was just a red sandy ridged track, and I still remember every ridge. We had an old Ford van which rattled and bumped along, spewing up red dust which we could never get rid of. Also with us were 2 small children and 2 cats, and this was in the days before disposable nappies! Our first major disaster was stopping for a break, boiling water on a new camp stove. We packed up and went on our merry way, suddenly realising we had left the stove at our last pit stop. Back we went, searching miles and miles of nothing, just spinifex, back and forth, everywhere looking exactly the same. We never did find the camp stove!
On we went, and suddenly had our second flat tyre on the trailer we were pulling. This carried our personal possessions, books, clothes, etc. The only thing to do was to leave the trailer and carry on a while to a kind of garage -cum-pit stop. We hauled the trailer quite a long way into the bush and hid it under a tree, and went on our merry way. Next morning, at the crack of dawn we returned for the trailer. And oh dear. What a sight. Poor old trailer was no longer a trailer, just a box sitting on the ground, .completely empty, no electrics, no tow bar, nothing. Hysterics were had by all. Eventually we hauled our box to the road, if you could call it that, and a kindly long-haul truckie came along and offered to cart the 'box' to Adelaide for us. From there on the trip was reasonable and we made it to Sydney eventually.
During this training here at Wealthy Affiliate, disasters yes, but major accomplishments as well. I'm nearly there! I guess once again proving that persistence will win in the end.

The adventure gave you a story for life... Although I'm sure at the time you would have written a different story :)
Hi and thank you for your comment. Yes, looking back it's funny, but at the time, not! Regards, Jan
Hi Jan, yes I can remember crossing the good old Nullabour Plain when it was a dirt road, and seeing many car and caravan wrecks scattered along the way! It reminds me of my website a bit ...haha! Your post took me back to the Good Old Days, and I thank you for that.
Regards Mark.
Hi Mark. Thanks for your comment, and sometimes it's nice to go back to the good old days, in this modern world!! Regards, Jan
You were a glutton for punishment. I would now think twice before going near the Sydney rat race let alone WA. Seeing it on TV every night is bad enough. Tom.
Hi, and thanks for commenting. Remember, this was in the 1960's, but I agree with you about Sydney. That's why we moved to Tassie!! Regards, Jan

That was quite a story! Learning and doing always has its ups and downs, but it sure feels good when things finally get better! Thanks for sharing!
Hi and thank you for commenting. You're right, when things get better you look back and think "oh well" ! Regards, Jan
