Facebook showing the wrong image or description when sharing url's from your site? Fix it!
Just wanted to share this with anyone having trouble with displaying the proper image or info when trying to share blog post urls, your homepage url, etc to Facebook and other social media. I'm sure it's on here in a few places, might've even missed it in the training, but I spent days on this before getting it and want to save others the time.
Once you've shared a url from your site to Facebook and realize that it's not showing the correct image or meta description, you can go to All in One SEO social meta.
Scroll down to Home Image and pick one. For me it is my main site logo. This will fill in the Open Graph image for your homepage (you'll need this to resolve an error if it shows up in the Facebook debugger in just a minute).
You can also scroll down and set a Default OG Image that will be used as the open graph image when sharing.
Now, go to https://developers.facebook.co... and enter the url that you are trying to share to Facebook and click Debug.
At the top you'll see warnings that should be fixed. The missing properties for your images might be listed her (e.g. things about the og settings etc) but you've filled them out now in All in One SEO.
Look just below this to Time Scraped. Next to it, click Scrape Again.
You should be able to see the correct image and description pop up below next to Link Preview.
If it doesn't work the first time, click it multiple times. If it still doesn't work, go to the blog post or page, scroll to the bottom where it says All in One SEO Pack, go to Social Settings, and you'll be able to select the image you want to display for social shares and fill in the description that shows up as well.
Also, Facebook recommends images that are 1200x630 for best quality, but I found I had to mess around with where my logo was within this size in order to make it fit into the Facebook social sharing box.

Hi there, I spoke to you last night on live chat and you told me to follow your training, which I have. I have tried both of these methods and I still cannot get an image on facebook. Sorry, do you know of anything else? I have only just started to have this problem with Facebook in the last few weeks as before this everything was fine. It's so infuriating :-)
You remembered to press "Scrape" a bunch of times right? The other issue could be the dimensions of the image. From FB: Image Sizes. Use images that are at least 1200 x 630 pixels for the best display on high resolution devices. At the minimum, you should use images that are 600 x 315 pixels to display link page posts with larger images. Images can be up to 8MB in size.
What error are you getting in the Facebook debugger?
Hi there, I've finally got it working!
Thank you so much for your help. I think the problem before was the image size so I have used a different one instead, but I will know that for next time. Actually it makes sense why this hasn't been working for me lately on Facebook, I have been using the new WA image tool and they have been coming up bigger than my usual images. It must be something to do with this.
