Keys Locked In The Car Three Times In A Row!

My omen of locking my Keys in the car!

I took my Mother to a doctor’s appointment in her partner’s car and it was over half an hour of where we lived. Before we even entered the premises I scattered through my bag searching for my keys with a feeling of knowing I may not have grabbed them. . No luck. I broke the news to my Mother straight up and told her I would figure it out and fix it before she returns out of the clinic.

All I could do in fright was Google search the area I was in and ‘locksmiths’. I came across a site which referred me straight to another guy through phone call. He told me he would be about an hour pricing me $110 dollars. In frustration of this not being my OWN car and panicking to get my Mother home and her partner’s car returned I paid this price.

Feeling stupid I knew this mistake could not happen again. Not while I was borrowing my Mothers partners car at least! The next day I was returning home from work when I decided to stop for petrol. I was outside the car inserting my petrol with my wallet when I had started to think about my foolish event of the previous day locking my keys in the car. Well… you wouldn’t believe it but it happened again! Looking down into the window a seen the silvery shine still sitting in the ignition!
Knowing this had just happened yesterday and already costed me the third of the pay I rang my Mother to see what her partner insisted on doing as I knew he might know a less expensive way! He told my Mother he had ‘spare’ keys and they were on their way down. Hold up a minute. Do you realise I just spent $110 dollars (a third of my pay) just to hide I locked the keys in the car when he could have rescued us for free!

I paid for my petrol and explained what had happened but the cashier’s reply was blunt with ‘well there’s nothing we can do until they get here then’. I stood behind my car with a look on my face to turn an army of troops opposite direction. Traffic was busy as I waited patiently for my Mother and her partner to come to my rescue. At eighteen years of age, it’s neither the most proud moment nor even close!

The next day I returned from work excited for my day off and once ‘again’ locked my keys in the car! I could not believe it! The third day in a row I had locked my keys in the car. Thankfully this time I was pulled into the driveway and only had to enter the house and find the spare keys to unlock it (this I did privately not to let my Mothers partner to know I did it again). I guess I was extremely tired but three days in a row was just ridiculous! I know own a spare key.

It's easy to do since everybody's in such a hurry these days. I often feel I'm running about on autopilot and that's when I get in trouble. Why is it people really give you strange looks if you lock yourself out of your car while it's still running?

I found more people were just staring rather than offering a helping hand or checking if everything was ok! It's embarrassing! While its still running? Oh no! That would of put you in a panic!

Don't worry, it happens to all of us I think. There's been a few times I've "lost" my keys or thought I did because I couldn't find them anywhere and then remember (after searching a bit) that I had already started the car to let it warm up awhile! :)

It does scare you when you think you may of lost them!

Thank goodness that when I turn my car off and open the door and if the keys are still in the ignition then I get a loud "dinging" going off until I take them out of the ignition. I have never locked my keys in the car but I sure wish I could find them when I lose them in my house! lol

That is a great idea! I want a car like yours! :)

LOL! I bet you won't do it a 4th time now that you have made the mistake 3 times and written about it! This is a good lesson and one that will also happen to you within the online world, I have made the same mistake before several times but it is becoming aware of these mistakes and learning from them that make us better.

Good luck with your ongoing key battle! :)

Yeah I hope not! Thanks Kyle! :)

Sometimes it needs a lot mistakes to make as better understand what is best for us in what we do. Have a pleasant day always!

We do mistakes sometimes in a row. But, be always aware. Nice post!

I hope I learnt my lesson! Thanks!

Great post, highlights a problem we all have had at times.
Regards
Hudson

Thanks Hudson :)

I am triple A's worst nightmare. Good post:)

Thanks :)

I've locked my keys in my car last year several times. I have become quite good unlocking it with a coat hanger!

I watched a young girl in the city with a coat hanger trying for ages. I felt so bad I could not help. I must learn how to use a coat hanger too! :)

I know how you feel. I have made a habit of checking the ignition to make sure I have my keys. I can't remember how many times I locked my keys in the car last year.

It can become quite annoying! There must soon be an invention to prevent this issue as it really gets frustration levels rising! :)
