Merry-Go-Round
It's been a long year for me with plenty of highs and lows; I've felt defeated, I've felt elated. I've seen myself as a failure, I've seen myself as triumphant. I've heard the negative voices, I've heard my inner cheerleader. I have been on a fairground ride for so long that I forgot that I could actually get off whenever I chose to!
I have been back for 1 week & 1 day from a 6 week trip across South Asia, something that I have always wanted to do yet I spent a large portion of the time worrying about 'getting back'. It alternated between worrying about what would happen when I got back and worrying the opposite, that I needed to get back sooner rather than later, so many 'things to do'.
On my return I experienced terrible jet lag which left me feeling like a half dead creature of the night and whilst laying around in this twilight zone feeling not quite awake or quite asleep I started to worry again; 'I need to be getting on with improving my life, my health, my business....' On and on and on. Anyone who has has had insomnia will know the kind of weird thoughts that start spinning around your brain!
I haven't worked for anybody else for over 10 years, I've always 'done my own thing' and had confidence in thinking of new ideas and hatching plans for ways to make money without being tied to a location or boss yet I was starting to realise I had let so much self doubt creep into my mind that I had been letting so many ideas and opportunities just slip between my fingers like sand.
I had been on my laptop for awhile looking at some Copy Writing jobs online and started chatting with some prospective clients, this was great! Suddenly all the thoughts stopped whirling round and I felt refreshed. The clients all wanted the same thing; for me to write articles on a number of different 'trending' topics, be it fashion or food or travel, they just wanted lots of different articles and they were willing to pay X amount for this. So I was fairly happy with this idea and then I received some contact information from one client, one of these was her Facebook account that I would be writing for. I looked at it for about five minutes before I gave myself a mental slap!
Why would I spend my time writing articles for someone else to use on their blog (and take the credit for them) when I have my OWN blog sitting, festering on WordPress. I tell myself that I don't have time to write on my blog, I don't have enough inspiration to keep uploading blog posts, I don't have enough interesting things to say.. The list is endless. So how did I plan to create and write blog posts every day for someone else? I then said to myself 'but its different because you will be being paid', that is when the revelation hit that i could write blog posts for MYSELF and get paid! BINGO!
Well I knew I wouldn't be sleeping with my jet lag/creature of the night issue so I got myself comfortable with my laptop and began searching. At some point I came across this site and decided to sign up, I then spent days and nights reading everything BUT this site, knowing it had so much information on it I didn't want to be distracted from 'finding my niche'! So I have been to ing and fro ing between ideas for all kinds of things that I can do online when tonight I finally realised that I don't have to decide 100% on my niche (if ever) because if I enjoy writing and have the ability to write, if I have the time and willingness to learn then I can work with any niche or product that I have an understanding of or interest in.
So that brings me back! I have created my profile and now I have created my first blog post and tomorrow I will begin from the "Get Started Here" button

Hi Jane and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate. I am also interested in NLP. I am working on a class from HMI in Tarzana, California to get certified in NLP. NLP is an amazing and exciting program that has helped me get out of a lot of crap in my life. I hope to one day soon help others as you do.

Hi Keith! Thank you for the welcome. I studied to be an NLP practitioner in London.. I have also done a number of sessions with my teacher which were very helpful for me! It really is a great skill, I am sure you will do very well and go on to help many :)
