Daddy's Promise
Daddy's Promise
Daddy misses you,
Girls you're always on mind.
With every step and every breath,
I think about you all the time.
Mommy tells you that I love you,
When she talks to me online.
And it always breaks my heart,
That I can't see you when I like.
I know I'm alway gone,
and I hope one day you'll understand,
why I had to spend my time,
off in strange and foreign lands.
You see there's bad things in this world,
that aren't consistent with God's plan,
and it's up to soldiers just like me,
to try to bring it to an end.
But one day a great big bird,
will fly me home across the sea.
The we'll finally be back together,
all you girls, mommy, and me.
But if Daddy doesn't make it,
then I want you all to know,
you were the last thing that I thought of,
When God called me to come back home.

Very touching poetry about serving the country. Sad that humanity can get so low that it does to make it necessary for Dads to have to write home such words.
Nonetheless it hits mine heart being the first thing I read this quiet morning.
