A Time To Create

Hey everyone. I just wanted to take a little time to tell you about something that occurred recently.

I had been making a lot of progress going through the lessons when I had come to one of the lesson assignments and found myself a bit--well, stuck I guess! It wasn't a difficult assignment, infact it was simply to write another post--something I had come across and completed in several lessons. Yet, this time I found myself not knowing what to write about and I was unwilling to even think about it--I simply refused to do it!

So, at some point I just went back to my site and looked it over. It was looking pretty good and I was proud of what I had accomplished, but something was missing. Though initially I didn't know what it was, I knew it was the reason I wouldn't complete the lesson assignment.

Suddenly, after having looked over the site for awhile it became clear to me. I had my niche, my own domain and my own website but I didn't have a clue as to what I wanted to do with it. I knew in that moment--before I could go on to the next lesson--I would have to figure that out. I had to decide what it was I was building and what value I wanted it to provide.

To that end I started to look at other sites within my niche--not to copy what they were doing--but find out what was being done and to give myself an idea of what could be done. I looked over several, finding some that I liked and others--not so much--but something was happening. I was beginning to form ideas in my mind and a picture was forming from them. Then, I just knew! I knew exactly what I wanted my site to be and what I wanted it to look like.

So, I went to work. I had followed all the lessons and I did all the work via WA's instruction, but for the first time--since I began this--I was doing the CREATING!

Here's the irony, since then I have completed atleast six new pages and created about 20 more to be filled in later--so, the next lesson's covered!

There's a lesson I learned through all of this that I think is importmant for me to share:

I realized that if I had tried to figure that out from the start I would accomplished very little if anything at all. Kyle clearly has us jump in with each lesson for a good reason. It's the difference between being stuck thinking about doing something and ACTUALLY DOING IT!

The time will come where you will have to decide what it is you want to create. It came to me when--after having built a foundation--I had something concrete to look at. When you get to this point the question becomes less subjective and much more objective.

So, if you do not yet know what your building, don't worry! Just go through each lesson as they come and when it's time for you do so--you'll know it!

Through this entire process when I found myself stuck--uncertain as to how to do something--it was the community here at WA that helped me find the answer's. So, to keep it simple--THANKYOU ALL!!

Wow! That's as good an endorsement of the process that goes on here at WA as I've seen. Developing creativity and channeling it in the right direction is the key.

I think we've all gone through the "stuck" at one point. I know I have! Thanks for the excellent advice on how to handle the "stuck."
