Advice needed

Hello everyone.

I could really do with some pro-active advice here to help me think. I am a second year student in University doing business studies. However, i have hated it from the start. It gives me no drive, passion, motivation and simply drains the actual life out of me.

I really want to quit however my parents wont let me. I can half understand them as they ay 'what will you do instead'. BUT, i just feel like my individuality is being crushed to pieces here, i am such an ambitious and creative person and i just feel like that need is not being met of mine at all.

I've even been looking into teaching abroad in Thailand permanatly as i went this summer.

Don't mean for this to be too depressing but i'm just fed up and at the minute feel as if there#s no way out.

Any advice is appreciated

Jake is business studies the right fit for you? I felt creatively constrained at college (until got involved in theater there) but it was worth it to me to stay because I was passionate about becoming a special education teacher.

Here are some options:

Change your major to something completely different that you feel passionate about.

Keep the same major (could help you on your entrepreneurial path later) but make a point of taking some creative electives and/or taking up a creative hobby.

Change to a different but related major, like marketing.

Take a break from school to teach in Thailand, or pursue some other dream. I would suggest this only if you're prepared for the damage it could do to our relationship with your parents, and only if you have lined up some means to pay your expenses.

Follow one of the first three plans and pursue your entrepreneurial dreams (like Wealthy Affiliate) in the evenings and on weekends. Once you start bringing in a healthy income, reassess the situation.

Best of luck, Jake.

Jake.. are you paying for college or are your parents?

If you aren't paying or acquiring debt then there is no need to leave school.

I think student tuition is way to high. The amount of debt you'd have when you leave school to start your life is insane.:

But if you don't have debt..

No need to rush to find a job
Be able to save more money
Opportunities to travel since when you leave school 6 'months later you need to start paying off debt.
There's more like buying a house or find an apartment

Something's to think about I guess
