Hi my site is only 2 months old and here are my thoughts:
Watch that video in comment below ;)
And some of my experience:
Amount of your articles/pages is a measurement of your progress.
Visitors engagement is also a measurement of your progress.
Your eagerness to write is a measurement of your progress.
Your average position is a measurement of your progress.
Your traffic amount is also :)
impressions = how many times your article was displayed in SERP - google search pages
Every keyword and article will bring impressions (impressions do not equate to traffic), More impressions - more chances to get a click.
On one of Jays (magicstudo's) videos you can spot that he gets ~42k impressions/ month and he grabs ~1.5k clicks from that. (and his positions are mostly on first page)
How much impressions - that depends on avg. monthly traffic reported via Jaaxy,KWTool,KeyWordPlanner(google keyword tool)
It will fluctuate depending on what people search this time of year/month/week/day/season/trend.
Getting better positions will bring more traffic -> lower position -> lower traffic.
Even position on page 1 will bring you 10-15%% traffic from avg monthly traffic, but position below page 4 will bring almost nothing(like 1 click for a month for 200 traffic word)
How you can track your progress? - keep an eye on impressions, when you write new article and it gets indexed, your impressions will rise (if it was relevant keyword).
Keep your eye on CTR %
Keep your eye on bounce rate - the the lower the better. (also spam referral bots can mess this up).
Bounce rate and amount of comments will have some information how good your articles are compared to visitor needs.
Hope it helps some ;)

This started last night when I worked on my PC instead of the iPad I normally use. Now, I can not access visual editor for any post, draft or published! Does anyone have a solu
Issue resolved!! I submitted a hosting ticket about the issue and now everything works fine!!
Thanks guys for your responses! It is so awesome that I can count on an answer to a question here at WA. I feel very much supported. Thanks again!

It is probably just me but when I start having trouble with one aspect of WA or another it is usually when I have 10 or 12 tabs open while trying to research something and fix something else at the same time. When WA slows or stops, I exit all tabs, restart my computer, and go to bed. It works. DAN
Ok, thanks. I was beginning to think about taking advantage of the nicer weather here in Michigan and spending some time in the woods. It's easy to get sucked into working on my site for hours and days on end! Time for a change of scenery! Lol :)
