Getting discouraged!

I hate to put any negativity out there but I am seriously getting discouraged. I have run into writer's block and haven't posted anything in a couple weeks, my bounce rate is 81% (up from 63% 3 weeks ago), no conversions, no comments in over 3 weeks and 189 page views in last month. I am promoting on social media (even though I hate promoting and hate social media), contacting people about linking to my site and have some well-written, relevant content (8 pages and 8 posts, averaging about 1,000-1,200 words each). My niche is women's addiction recovery and I'm beginning to think it is just not that popular. I am in recovery myself, so I am an expert on the subject but realistically, most addicts are not ready to get clean. My aim is to be helpful to those struggling and educational for those who want to understand addiction and eventually build a business. Now I am wondering if I am wasting my time. My site has been up for 3 months so far. I am now considering picking a different niche and starting a second site but I am afraid of getting overwhelmed. How would I keep up with 2 sites if it literally takes me 3-4 hours to write a post? I know I am perfectionistic, so maybe that is the problem. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Confused and discouraged,

Jackie

So, I️ have pretty much put my website-building and WA on the back-burner. I️ completely changed directions almost two years ago now and started a Real Estate Investment business (buying and renovating rental property)that is actually doing quite well! I️ am working on a new site for that business although I️ still find the learning curve with building my own site frustrating. I️ am keeping my addiction recovery website as a non-profit informational blog for now and hopefully the information is helpful to someone out there. For now, I️ am sticking with WA although I️ don’t have much time to devote to this right now.
‘Just thought I️ would write an update.
Thanks everyone for your help and support.

Are you doing better Jackie?

Yeah, somewhat. I have been busy with other stuff the last month and have not worked on my site as much as I would have liked. I'm committed to a year of this though, so we'll see how it goes! Thanks for checking in!

Your welcome, Don't stay away for too long or you will lose the excitement about WA.

don't be discourage. Just move on and relax everything will be alright.

Thank you, everyone. Your comments are very helpful and encouraging.

Jackie: Getting discouraged is a son-of-a-b__ch. Easy to do and hard to stop. If I can find it on your Profile page I will take a look at your website. However, I am dying to ask you a question. What is the primary purpose of your site? Is it to make money with or for you to express your knowledge about the topic? I suspect both but you need to be really clear with yourself. 189 views last month is pretty astounding if you are really attempting to tell your story. I would think that statistic alone would make you feel happy.

How are you fairing with Google +? Is your SEO ranking on Google letting you get noticed?

You are a very attractive young woman. Writing Block? Create an outline and go LIVE on YouTube. Like a fisherman, he soon realizes that not all fish like nightcrawlers. Change it up a bit.

Kyle teaches and I believe whole-heartedly that your website must be about your passion? Is addiction recovery and the knowledge you have gained from that your passion...or is it simply opening up old wounds?

I will look at your website and get back to you. Keep a stiff upper my dear. You deserve it. DAN

O think what Dan is suggesting could be real good as long as it is not opening up old wounds. People would connect with you and see the genuine nature and sincerity in your words. I think it may very well, help others, especially when they see you in a positive recovering place.

Nice thought Dan

Thanks Debra. I hope that Jackie reads my private message I sent to her. DAN

We all hit that discourage bump. And honestly 8 posts is not a lot of posts. A good rule of thumb is 2-3 posts a week, and this is a continuous process.

Some posts do end up being more difficult. I think you may be trying to be too much of a perfectionist. I find that I can be that way too. Perhaps you just need to find your groove.

Some days I can write well, other days not so good. On those days I research keywords or gather photos for upcoming posts. It help that I have a list of possible post topics that I am continuously adding to.

Take a deep breath, and know that everyone goes thru this stage.
