Why You Need An Email List In Your Business

Email marketing. What's it all about, should I be using it and is it going to bring me more success? Yes. To all of those. Email marketing is the soon to be bloodline of marketing. It's what keeps people updated with your brand and brings them back wanting more. If your in marketing and don't care about email then your a fool. It's that simple and that's the hard truth.

The benefits of email marketing are endless and I want YOU to be apart of it. There are many ways you can build an email list and start getting more people involved with your brand. So, read on if you want to find out how you can start to improve your business with email.

The first thing I would like to talk about is where you can build an email list. There are many sites and programs online that provide you with the tools and resources you need to start. Being completely honest with you I have never used any of these as I have never built an email list myself. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'VE NEVER BUILT A LIST?? How can you talk so highly of something you've never even done? Don't panic, don't panic. I currently work as an email marketer and have learnt a thing or two about it in my time there. So, I know the potential involved in it. FYI, I do plan on building an email list once I can get my own affiliate sites working well, but that could be a bit of time away. I hope it's soon but... Wait,I've lost my point... Oh yeah I was guiding you on something I've never done personally! Back to it.

So, as I've never personally used an online email program and have no right to recommend one for that reason, I would like to see some people suggest some in the comments! I understand most people are here completely new to email marketing, but if you've had a dabble in it yourself then please add you're favorite programs.

Anyway, once you've found a site or program that you like the look off your pretty much ready to go. Sign up with them and make sure there is a way that the emails you collect on your site will be available on your selected site or program.

I will provide one simple tip for bringing more sign ups to your brand. Providing incentives. To get people to sign up to receive your emails, you will probably need to give them an incentive. Offer a discount or maybe even a free product or sample? Same goes for when they are subscribed to you. Every once in a while, offer a discount only to those who are on your email list. This way people will be more inclined to stay with you. Better yet, offer them rewards for referring friends to sign up. If you're simply asking them to sign up cause you've got 'Great Content!' or 'No one can compare to you!' then I don't fancy your chances at receiving a lot of sign ups.

Here's another little tip for you. Don't email too often and don't email too little. Yes, that sounds confusing I know. But it's very important. This tip all depends on your brand. If you have new products and content continuously being produced, then you may want to send emails slightly more regularly, but not too regularly. You do not want people unsubscribing because you are now spamming them. You also don't want people unsubscribing or becoming disinterested in you because you're never sending any emails out. It's seems confusing, but stick at it and believe me you will work out the best email formula for your brand.

Now for possibly the most important part (in my opinion) of email marketing. Have a system or strategy in place. Don't go sending emails out at any time or day and hope for a 50% conversion rate. It doesn't happen. Research the best times and days to send emails, as well as the best way to make your emails appealing. Good times for email, in my opinion, are 7am, Midday and 6pm. All of these times are hot points for people to checking their emails. When they first wake up, at lunch time when they are looking through their phone and when they get home.

Now strategy can also be for the type of emails you send and having a set journey of emails. The best example of this could be having pre-set of welcome emails for everyone that signs up. So, when they first sign up they will receive their first welcome email thanking them for signing up and possibly offering them a discount. Five days after sign up they would receive welcome email #2, which could be asking them what they think of your brand so far and possibly getting some feedback. Twelve days later they receive welcome email #3 etc. You see what I'm getting at? It's a set of emails that you do not need to worry about sending and will take care of themselves. I couldn't tell you what sites or programs offer this sort of resource, but if it is available then I highly recommend using it.

The final piece of advice I will give is to segment people (if possible). This is only relevant if you have a large email list. Once you have a lot of people on your email list, you will start to learn that they want different things and sending them all the same email is only going to lead to people unsubscribing. So, if possible, segment them into different data pots. This way you can keep them happy by only sending them emails that are relevant to them.

I hope I have been able to show you how important email marketing is and have hopefully provided some useful tips for you to move forward with it.

I didn't want to add all the facts and statistics on how good email is as I really just wanted to keep it helpful to you, rather than filling up space with graphs and figures.
